I had stayed here a year ago, and had a spectacular room. Renovations were underway this time, unknown to me, or to Hotwire, whom I had booked through. I was put in a different wing while the nicer wing I stayed in last year was being renovated. Nice and clean, but it was more like a cheaper motel than the La Quinta room I was in last year, which was like a nice hotel.
Service was excellent, friendly staff, safe parking. Room was very small. Bathroom was micro.
All and all, for La Quinta, it was sub-par. But compared to other rooms in the area at the same price, it was still a bargain. And free airport transfers. La Qiunta San Jose will be an outstanding property when finished....but ask questions BEFORE booking, as renovations can bring surprises!
Room Tip: Phone the hotel DIRECTLY before booking, to find a room not affected by renovation.

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to do a thorough review of your most recent stay with us here in San Jose, California. Your input and review are very valuable. I would like to apologize for information regarding the renovation not reaching you prior to your stay. We understand that for some guests it is a major concern when a hotel is going through a renovation and we are sorry the information was not clearly delivered to you.
As you mentioned, the hotel will be an outstanding property when finished and we can't wait to share it with guests such as yourself. From the time we took over the property approximately 6 months ago, we have had extremely high expectations for this hotel. We are working hard each day to give this hotel the proper face lift it deserves. With the completely remodeled guest rooms, expanded lobby, and the addition of a bar/lounge we will be offering one of the top hotels in the Silicon Valley.
Again, thank you for taking the time to let us and all of our guests know everything about your stay. We look forward to having you again soon post-renovation at the "New" La Quinta Inn San Jose Airport.
