My husband made the reservation for the Arena Hotel, but I was apprehensive about staying there after reading about bed bugs in one of the reviews. Fortunately there was no sign of them in our room. The room was quiet enough for good sleeping, after I unplugged the noisy refrigerator. (There was nothing in it.) We were there to attend a performance at the HP Pavilion, and it is easy walking distance to get there. The reservation was made a couple of months ahead of time, and we were surprised to see that there were still advertised rooms available on the day of our stay, and at $20 less than our prepaid rate. We did not have much time for dinner that night, and so went for fast food at Chipotle's, only 2 blocks away. CVS pharmacy is right next door. I had no concept what the whirlpool bathtubs would be like, but it is set up like a regular hotel bathroom - shower over the bathtub, only this time it is a wide whirlpool tub instead of a basic bathtub. Being short, and older, it was not easy climbing into the tub (with higher sides) for a shower but with care, it can be done. We were not inclined to use the whirlpool.
The sink and mirror are separate from the shower/toilet room and visible from the beds. One has to turn on the light which would disturb a sleeping partner. There was never more than one person at the front desk when we were there, which meant we had to wait to ask questions. On the plus side, parking was free and satisfactory, and the buffet breakfast was good with hot and cold choices.
Room Tip: Request a quiet room with your reservation.
