We stayed at this hotel on a very cold December night and we don't like to have heat on while we are sleeping, so we asked for an extra blanket....no luck with this.

A small older hotel but clean. We couldn't get a reservation at the hotel we wanted to stay in in Monterey, CA so we decided to stay at a more affordable place nearby. The road into Salinas from Monterey was a good one. It was about a 15-20 minute drive. After recommendations from friends NOT to stay in Salinas, I was hesitant after having made reservations. My boyfriend called ahead and ask about the area which made me feel a little more comfortable. These are outdoor rooms but we stayed on the second floor (there are only two). The elevator is locked at night until 6 a.m. I could hear the luggage cart roll by when someone next to us checked in and you could hear the door open and close but not too late. We got a good nights sleep which is all we needed.

First, I booked online and thought this was enclosed based on the picture, but it is not. Then I found out the elevator did not run from 11 PM to 6 AM, after I checked into my second story room (don't like first floor when traveling alone). I have difficulty with stairs, so this was not good. I don't really know Salinas, but it didn't look like a good part of town. Staff was nice, but ratings depend on what you are used to. I found this under my minimum standard.
