My husband and I think of St. Helena as our "home away from home". We have stayed at the Adagio Inn 3 times in the last year, once as a bed and breakfast, and twice as a rental. We absolutely love staying there! We especially enjoy it as a rental as we like to have our own kitchen and the extra living space that you don't usually get in a hotel or B&B. We just got back from a week long stay where we rented the apartment and the Sonata Suite. We had 3 other couples with us, so needed the extra space. We have always found it to be very clean and the beds are very comfortable. It is quite a good value for the money spent - especially in comparison to the cost of local hotels and B&Bs.

The location is ideal as it is only a couple of blocks from downtown St. Helena and is walking distance to many great restaurants, a local coffee shop that we love, a movie theater, etc.

Polly is a wonderful hostess! We needed Polly to arrange to have the Sonata Suite cleaned part way through our visit as one couple used it for the first few days, then when they left another came in. She took care of everything for us and is always helpful with dinner and winery suggestions. She will also make reservations ahead of time for you if you need her to.

I had to be in St Helena for a surgery, sadly, but was very lucky to have found the Adagio. It's a lovely Victorian home, and Polly is a wonderful hostess/Innkeeper.


She was very welcoming, and we'd ended up renting the first floor, so we had that all to ourselves. Two living rooms, a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. The house is obviously lovingly cared for, and I found it comfortable, extremely clean, and roomy. Polly has an amazing collection of interesting books, so I kept myself nicely entertained in the evenings.

The location is also perfect. Within easy walking distance of downtown St Helena, and all the shops, restaurants, etc that you could want.

I could not have asked for a better place to stay as a typical hotel would have been far less personal/convenient during a time when I wasn't feeling so hot.

I would definitely stay there again, and recommend the Adagio/Polly to anyone!

We stayed here for 2 nights during our trip to Napa and had a very good experience. The Adagio is two blocks off of main street and very quiet at night. There are only 3 rooms so noise from other guests is not an issue. Polly is a great cook and makes fabulous gourmet breakfasts. Wine is served at 5:30. Although we didn't use it, there is a front porch with comfortable looking chairs, and places to sit outside for breakfast, weather permitting. The rooms are large and nicely decorated, bed was large and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Lovely old inn, huge suite with antiques as well as modern amenities. Polly was wonderful, as was her food--great wine and cheese in the afternoon and full breakfasts. Wish we could go right back!
