Stayed one night in this hotel. Rooms are great, you have free wifi, hot breakfast, and parking is large. Staff at the front desk was "ok" (have experienced better).
Although location may not be perfect, given the low price and the good general quality of the hotel it is a good choice in the area.

Very clean rooms and nice to have a microwave and mini frig. Would've been nice to have an extra blanket stored in the closet.
Bathroom towels were generic and adequate, nothing special. Bath towel was almost too small.
TVs were fine as was the lighting. Parking was a breeze. Hallway noise was rather loud when people were around, but otherwise the property was quiet. Not much to do in the area, but about a mile north on Stockton Blvd.are some very good SE Asian restaurants, etc.
Only complaint was that there were ants all over a spoon I left on a table the next morning.

This is really just an o.k hotel. Room was clean enough, girl at reception desk was polite BUT venture outside your non-smoking room and the stench of smoke is disgusting! The continental breakfast is just about bearable. I must also agree with other reviewers that there are no decent places to eat anywhere near this hotel, in fact nowhere to buy any sort of food. If you want better than O.K stay somewhere else.

Selected the John Jay Inn based on its location. We flew in late to Sacramento and needed a place to sleep en route to Yosemite. The location was convenient and the rooms clean and quiet. However, bed was kind of hard, room decor was dated, and the free breakfast the next morning was disappointing. As other posters have indicated, there aren't many other dining options nearby. Probably wouldn't stay here again.
