We had an unpleasant surprise, though. We had rented a 2-bedroom suite for Christmas Eve so we could house extended family in the same spot for that family-oriented night. I knew the hotel had no elevators, but it turned out that all of the 2-bedroom suites were upstairs. That would not work for my disabled mother. I think this information needs to be highlighted in their hotel info.
The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful when we discovered the problem. She gave us 2 regular suites side-by-side and split the cost of each one so our total was the same. So we were close, but not together. Yes, it changed our plan for the evening, but I felt the clerk did what she could do to solve it.
This hotel is in a fine place if you want to be near restaurants and shopping. Probably a great place to stay for Cal Expo events. But somehow it just felt a little old and run-down despite the new carpets. Located on a major street with exterior entrances, it had the feeling of a city motel. The bed was super-soft and dipped toward center.
It was fine, but it was just a little disappointing to us. Since we couldn't get the 2-bedroom suite we'd wanted, I was sorry we hadn't chosen Larkspur Landing farther down the road, which has a cozier feel.
