I recently stayed at the Capitol City Hotel in Sacramento. They offered a stay one night, get the 3rd night free. We checked in and were told that the onsite restaurant had just been closed for remodeling but the bar was open. We were disappointed in this as they should take this info off their website if this amenity is going to be unavailable for some time. Also, the lobby was under construction so it looked rather dumpy. We headed off to our room and found the halls were grimy and dingy. Lots of stains on the carpet and lots of paint touch ups were needed. The elevators were small and a little slow but seemed to work fine. Our room was VERY nice. Large bed, good size TV, rolling chair at the desk. There was a full closet with sliding door, iron, ironing board, and safe. There was also a little area off the bedroom that had a counter and large mirror. In this area was the a little coffee maker and the ice bucket. The room also had a micro and a refrigerator. The bathroom was fine. The shower head was pretty low. I am 5' 9" and it was at the same height as my head. The other thing we were very disappointed in was the fact that the hotel did not have a free computer for guest use. They had 2 in the lobby but it cost $.49 per minute to use. This seems very silly to me. A new computer does not cost that much money and I am sure that many guests would find this useful. The pay per view movies did not work in the room and I never saw a daily managers reception or any mention of one while we were at the hotel. The breakfast both mornings that we went only had once choice of danish and some small muffins. There was no juice either morning. I think there was some coffee and cold water to drink. The website claims that there is toast, bagels, and cereals but we did not see these things the two days were got breakfast. The breakfast was very disappointing. There was a laundry facility onsite and the pool was very large and looked inviting. The website claimed to have a fitness center but we saw no signs or anything pointing to one. I think that this hotel has some potential but right now it is not all that inviting. The room was great but the rest of the place left something to be desired.
