“Welcome to the Hotel California.....”

At one point I sang a part of this song to my sister because it seemed so true! The hotel is one of the worst I've been to. The lobby seemed clean but that's about the only good thing I can say about the entire stay. When we checked in the woman at reception didn't want to honor the rate we had been quoted over the phone. She finally agreed but refused to give us the complimentary tickets to the State Fair that we were promised. Told us to come back later and talk to Wayne. Okay, so we go up to our room via a scary elevator and the door to our room looks as if it has been broken down at some point. Nice. Once in the room we notice that there is not microwave or refridgerator as we were promised over the phone. So back down to the lobby we go. "We'll get one up to you when we locate one." Back up to the room and we notice that there is only 1 set of towels. There are 4 of us in the room so that won't work. We then sat on the bed to call the lobby and noticed that if you leaned towards the wall, the light next to the bed would go off and on. So we pick up the phone to call and no dial tone. Back down to the lobby we go, this time with a list. The phone doesn't work, the light has bad wiring and we need towels, oh and don't forget the fridge and microwave that we were promised. We ask for Wayne as he is supposed to be there by then. A man with the name tag "Anthony" claims to be Wayne so we remind him of the things he has promised when we made our reservations via phone. He can't give us tickets to the fair without "Jesse's" approval so a call is made to Jesse. We get the tickets we were promised and off to the Fair we go, leaving them to fix issues we have had. When we return we ask about the problems. The issues have been fixed but there is no microwave or fridge to be had. They have all been taken as first come, first serve. Fine. At this point we go back up to the room. The scary elevator has gotten worse and now sounds as if it's on it's last thread to make it to the fourth floor. Check the towels, check the light and the phone. Their "fix" was to pull the bed away from the wall. Hmmm. Attempted to call the lobby for the pool hours and the phone stops working again. Perfect. We go to sleep hoping that we're still alive in the morning. In the middle of the night there is shouting and police lights. Wonderful! The next day we left the hotel early and returned at dinner time. The kids wanted to swim so into the pool they go. Why can't we see the bottom of the pool? Why is the water green? Out and into the shower to clean off whatever muck they just picked up. Last night here. Slept okay. Room was cold and no way to change that. Checked out first thing the next morning. Taxes and fees were aweful. Safe fee? We didn't use the safe! Piled into the car and drove away as fast as possible!!! Hotel California couldn't keep a hold on us!

“Something shady is going on here”

I stayed at this hotel last month and had a really bad experience. When I checked in, they never gave me a receipt and when I asked for one they said they don't give them out. I wasn't going to say anything but I've read some other reviews that are similar stories. When I left, they refused to give me back my deposit. $175 is a lot of money to just throw away. I've been trying for a month now to get that money back but no luck. I would try to file a suit but they didn't give any receipt and afterwards when I called they said they had no record of me staying there. I'm not sure what is going on but I believe this hotel is intentionally scamming people. I am leaving this review so that other people can avoid being taken advantage of.

“TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY”

I stayed here for their "$199" weekly special and let me just warn you that this is only about half of the money you will lose here. Upon checking I was charged $65 in "tax"(how does that calculate?) Then I was charged $175 for a deposit, so I'm $540 into this and on the 5th day they knock on my door and tell me my week is up and I have to leave because there are no more rooms. Unbelievable! I wanted my deposit back and they said I would only be refunded $50 and that the rest is a cleaning fee. This was such a huge loss of money and I want to warn people so that they don't have to go through what I went through. Book your stay somewhere else.

This place is nasty. I got some kind of rash from the sheets, also I was told by an employee that some kind of bacteria got in the pool and made it unsafe but they didn't do anything about it. The air conditioning system is horrible. Its hot and muggy throughout the hotel and the rooms. There are a lot of creeps hanging out here and they stare you down so I felt very uncomfortable. The laundry room always seems to be flooded. One time it flooded on me so they gave me a mop and told me to clean it up or I would be charged. I couldn't believe how rude this was!! Take my word for it, don't stay at this hotel. You will regret it if you do.

“Horrible Service & Terrible Waste of Money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

Spent a week and 4 out of the 7 days we were left with no towels after the room was cleaned. Had to call the front desk and after waiting 45 minutes to receive clean towels they were very stained so we ended up buying our own towels. The laundry facilities that were advertised was out of order the entire week. The maid service did not replace the complimentary coffee, and left a half consumed drink on the counter. The hallways wreaked of something stale or spoiling. We were promised a refrigerator & microwave but never received it the entire week. We were told every day that they only had a limited amount and were provided on a first come first serve basis. The advertising never mentioned this and we never could store cold drinks, fresh fruit or anything. Just and all around terrible week so I would advise to pass on this hotel unless you have no expectations on decent service. Couldn't rate any continental breakfast because none was provided. On a positive note, the pool appeared to be nice even though we never used it!
