I've stayed at this Radisson on three separate occasions now for a total of 12 due to business in the Sacramento area. The primary reason i've stayed here is because you can get a great deal on it through priceline for around $40/night plus taxes. The hotel itself is older and is a sprawling single level complex with various meeting and conference rooms. The main building houses a restaurant, bar, gift shop, massage/spa and lounge area. It overlooks a lake with a fountain which does give it some ambiance. Overall however the entire facility looks like it needs some updating. It isn't bad...but it's just not up to the standards you would expect in newer facility.
The rooms typically are clean, but some of the rugs need to be replaced as they are starting to show signs of wear. The beds are comfortable and feature 'sleep number' mattresses. TVs are old tube style..not flat screen. Internet is wired...not wireless...something that is an easy upgrade and is surprising the management has not done yet.
My main gripe with the hotel besides being a bit dated is that the clientele it attracts doesn't seem to be the highest caliber. While there were a few families and couples here and there, there also seemed to be several groups of young men, some of them local gangster-ish that seemed to use some of the hotel rooms to either have a party or perhaps are travelling and this is a cheap place they found online. Because the hotel is out of the mainstream, there are no stores or shops to walk to. The closest stores are a starbucks and taco place around the corner which is about a 10 minute walk.
Overall, if you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay and choose i80-/arden in sacramento on priceline for about $40...then it's a good value. I would not pay full price however Anything over about $60-70/night would be overpaying for this place in my opinion and you'd be better staying at the courtyard marriott down the block for just a few dollars more.
One last point...although the hotel has a fitness center...it is really out of date and almost unusable. Both treadmills were broken, there are no free weights and the weight machines were ancient. The only cardio machines that were usable were a couple of older glider machines and a stationary bike. Considering they have two nice sized rooms...they could really do something with this by investing in a free weight set and a couple of benches...and a new treadmill or two. But they haven't.
