“Not special.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

Pros: good service at front desk and restaurant. Convenient to the meeting I attended at the hotel.
Cons: run down, dimly lit in some parts, noise of late night lovers in next room actually woke me up(rated X sounds), room smelled strange, location near almost nothing except a Costco and two fast food restaurants. I left after one night to try the Larkspur Landing instead.

“Never EVER go to this hotel!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

The lobby is completely decieving. It looks lovely. The rooms are HORRIBLE! And - the walk to the room is INSANE. It looks like it was probably an old apartment complex that was turned into a hotel. There were TWO entry/exit doors in the room. One that led to the parking lot - and - one to the 'courtyard'. It looked like it was designed for 'drive-thru' prostitution. My shower curtain smelled like it had not been changed since 1952 - GROSS!! And - the room smelled like urine. It was so dark at night that you could not see anything around the property and you have to walk a VERY LONG way to get to any of the room. Oh - and no elevator for 2nd floor rooms. Try dragging a 50 lb pc of luggage up to the 2nd floor. One of the girls that I travelled with asked two of us to walk her to the room - because it looked completely unsafe. I could say more but let me just say one final thing... DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT CHECKING INTO THIS HOTEL!!! The rate for this room was $120 - I wouldnt pay $39!!

The Radisson Sacramento was built in the 1950’s and will reflect some of the style and design of that period which many find part of our charm. It’s disheartening to learn that you felt this way during your stay, as the hotel is quite safe and secure. But we will bring to our management team your suggestion of brighter lights.

We offer Guest Services to help with luggage for the exact reason you pointed out in your review, thank you for giving us an opportunity to share that information. Your review will be shared with our housekeeping team to reinforce the high level of standards we have in place for cleanliness. We encourage our guests to reach out to management right away regarding any concerns so that they can be addressed immediately to ensure a positive experience during their stay. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and we hope someday to regain your trust.

“ok stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

this is my second time staying at the radisson and it is not 3 star quality! this place should be 2.5 stars the MOST. i booked through priceline for $40/night. first time i was there, i was given double beds even though i requested king bed. I complained and they said nothing was available until the next morning. So i had to sleep on double bed which btw was not a sleep number bed. it was probably the worse bed ive slept on considering this is suppose to be a 3 star hotel. the next day we were transferred to another room with a king bed which made the stay more enjoyable.

during my second experience in november, once again they gave me a double bed when i requested a king bed. they said no king bed rooms were available...which was shocking considering the parking lot is soo empty. on top of that, came home from a wedding late one night and our room key did not work and were standing in the cold (imagine november weather). called the front office and the receptionist was very rude and asked that go back to the front desk to check our keys. eventually it got taken care of.

some times i get lucky with priceline when booking a room for $40/night...bc i'll get lucky and get the double tree hotel which is nearby and is truly a 3 star hotel..not the radisson. Priceline should take the radisson off their 3 star list..then i would be guaranteed the double tree all the time.

“Radisson demanding security deposit???”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2010

Hotel has good beds, clean, noisy with trains all night. But to have them demand a security deposit and won't be refunded until 5 days later that is a slap in the face of the business traveler!!

“Good Priceline Choice But Otherwise an Older Property in Need of Upgrades”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

I've stayed at this Radisson on three separate occasions now for a total of 12 due to business in the Sacramento area. The primary reason i've stayed here is because you can get a great deal on it through priceline for around $40/night plus taxes. The hotel itself is older and is a sprawling single level complex with various meeting and conference rooms. The main building houses a restaurant, bar, gift shop, massage/spa and lounge area. It overlooks a lake with a fountain which does give it some ambiance. Overall however the entire facility looks like it needs some updating. It isn't bad...but it's just not up to the standards you would expect in newer facility.

The rooms typically are clean, but some of the rugs need to be replaced as they are starting to show signs of wear. The beds are comfortable and feature 'sleep number' mattresses. TVs are old tube style..not flat screen. Internet is wired...not wireless...something that is an easy upgrade and is surprising the management has not done yet.

My main gripe with the hotel besides being a bit dated is that the clientele it attracts doesn't seem to be the highest caliber. While there were a few families and couples here and there, there also seemed to be several groups of young men, some of them local gangster-ish that seemed to use some of the hotel rooms to either have a party or perhaps are travelling and this is a cheap place they found online. Because the hotel is out of the mainstream, there are no stores or shops to walk to. The closest stores are a starbucks and taco place around the corner which is about a 10 minute walk.

Overall, if you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay and choose i80-/arden in sacramento on priceline for about $40...then it's a good value. I would not pay full price however Anything over about $60-70/night would be overpaying for this place in my opinion and you'd be better staying at the courtyard marriott down the block for just a few dollars more.

One last point...although the hotel has a fitness center...it is really out of date and almost unusable. Both treadmills were broken, there are no free weights and the weight machines were ancient. The only cardio machines that were usable were a couple of older glider machines and a stationary bike. Considering they have two nice sized rooms...they could really do something with this by investing in a free weight set and a couple of benches...and a new treadmill or two. But they haven't.
