This hotel is situated between two clubs - which I found out on checkin, when the manager told me tonight (Friday) would be loud. There were a lot of 'unsavory' people milling about the lobby as well. I was told that a bottom level room was all that was available, even though they try to save upgraded rooms for Marriott Elite members. To my surprise, the room was a nice 1 bedroom suite with full kitchen. Very comfortable. Room service limited to the onsite restaurant with limited hours of delivery. Bonus, breakfast is included during your stay. Hotel is locked down after Midnight with security guards that must escort you in.

Stayed at the Residence Inn near the convention center for a volleyball tournament and wasn't expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of the accommodations. The 2-bedroom is particularly spacious with a full kitchen and bay windows. Parking is pricey ($17) and a pain. As many have mentioned, the spots are at the very top of a 7 story structure. However, over the weekend, there is street parking as well as a parking lot a block away at the Highway Patrol building that charged $2 flat rate (no overnight parking though). There is a small alleyway that provides a nice shortcut to the back of the convention center making it a 1 minute walk away. The gym is 24 hour and has a full range of cardio equipment and nice dumbbells though no machines or barbells. There are several restaurants within a 2 block radius. Would stay here again for that home away from home feel.

Last time I stayed at the Residence Inn I had a mishap. The Manager was very apologetic and when I had an emergency trip to Sacramento this past week, I called at the last miniute and the staff at the hotel went overboard by providing an upgraded room. The manager and staff here truly understands customer service. The hotel is ideally located close to the Capitol and to nearby restaurants on 16th Street. I highly recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and am pleased more and more with each time I say. The facilities are great, the restaurant and bar provide excellent fare and the complimentary breakfast plentiful, but most of all it is how helpful the staff is that makes me comeback over and over again, each time that my business brings me to Sacramento. What is special about the customer service here is that every staff person seems to work as a team and each employee takes it upon himself to help the client even with a question that may not fall in the primary role of service. This was the case, recently with Mr. Robert Hernandez, a member of the housekeeping team, who took it upon himself to assist me with a question that was totally outside of his department. He made sure to take my inquiry to the appropriate party and getting it resolved in no time at all. It saved my day and certainly will bring me back to this property over and over in the future. Thank you Robert and the rest of the staff for such excellent customer service.
