“Horrid.... never again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

We are at the Expo every year for a week and have stayed for years at another property. At a frieds insistance we tried the Motel 6. From no heat, to no hot water (for more than three days on and off) the list goes on. Pool of course not working either. Carpets in room so dirty we had to wear shoes the whole time. Apparently there was a fire here last year and it is still messed up. On top of all that I was overcharged, manager out of town. Took me a month to track him down to discuss, and basically just called me a liar.

Room Tip: Stay at the Best Western or Holiday Inn Express

“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

I've never stayed at a Motel 6 until now. Besides the excellent location, which is close to everything. I must say it doesn't feel like a motel at all.... if anything it feels like "Home away from home"... I've stayed for over a month and I really enjoyed it! The room was spacious, clean and I have no complaints what-so-ever! It was a wonderful experience! The people are fabulous! That's one of the many reasons I'd come back! From the front desk e.g. Sam, Holly, Gino, Susan, Soneil and the housekeepers ... down to the Security Staff. Thank you, for being here!

“This is a Motel 6?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

Wow, this isn't like any Motel 6 I've stayed in. Nice sized room, shower head tall enough for my 6'2" frame, plenty of counter space near the sink, and a separate sink with the fridge and microwave below. There are a few places where the finishing work is a little lacking, but they are truly insignificant. When the wireless didn't work, someone reset the server and it worked without any hangups from then on. The bed was just right and we had no noise (fortunately for us there was no concert at the fairgrounds). We both thought this was a great value.

“Dont take a room in the back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2010

I suppose my first mistake was asking for a smokin room.Upon entering my room i was horrified. The room smelled terrible, carpet was discusting, furniture looked like it was pulled from a dumpster, stains on the pillowcase as well as pillow, the airconditioning did not work, there was no screen in the window, toilet was very unstable, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling.I probably would have found other things wrong but the pubic hairs under the blankets and in the bathroom repelled me from the room. The girl at the checkin counter was difficult. She told me i had already been in the room 30 minutes.LOL I told her i had spent 15 minutes with her 10 minutes driving around to the room and unpacking.I couldnt stand being in that room more tha a few minutes but i was trying to tough it out.She then told me they would send a maintanance man over to look at the airconditioning. After demanding a new room three or four times i finally got a non smoking room that was tolerable.I would have slept in my rental car for two days before sleeping in that first room offered to me.The price was right but on fear factor they pay you.

“Surprisingly nice for a Motel 6 and a fair price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2010

I really wasn't expecting much from this motel, as it was only 60 dollars after tax for two beds. Suprisingly, the room had hardwood floors and fairly comfortable beds. I also appreciated the double set of overlapping curtains that allowed me to actually sleep-in. One disappoint we had was the fact that they just gave us two bars of soap in the bathroom, no shampoo, let alone conditioner or lotion. We only stayed one night and it wasn't a big enough deal for us to inquire about, so it's possible the housekeeping just forgot to put some in our room. As far as sleeping goes, I would have slept a little better if the place had centralized air rather than a wall unit. Everytime the AC would turn on or shut off during the night it would wake me up a little.

The location wasn't great, as some other reviewers have pointed out. Although I didn't have any problems with noise or "shady-looking" people, I could see how that might sometimes be a problem at this place. However, I think some people just become paranoid when they see shady-looking people and tend to overreact. "Price of motel room" and the "druggie/prostitute crowd" are somewhat negatively correlated (i.e. when price goes down, that crowd tends to become more prevalent and vice versa), so I don't know why people are so surprised about the quality of a place when they clearly don't pay top dollar. Doesn't it go without saying that you get what you pay for? That being said, this wasn't the cheapest motel in town, ergo it didn't seem to have much of a problem with "that crowd" -- at least not in my experience (we stayed on a Friday night).

To end on a brighter note, the motel was literally right next to the century dome theaters, so we just walked over there in the morning and took advantage of the theater's early bird special ($5.50 if you make it to the first showing of the day--at time of this review). If you're looking for a fair-priced motel room for a night or two and you aren't afraid of the dark, then I recommend this place to you.
