“Uh... its a Super 8 Motel, what do you expect?”

I booked this hotel through Hotwire. I requested a 2 1/2 star hotel but was given this 1 star establishment instead. I tried to cancel because I thought I was being ripped off, but Hotwire wouldn't let me. I know how gross these motels can be so we brought our our pillows and duvet. Regardless of the Hotwire debaucle, the staff was really friendly and let us do a late check out because we were in town for a marathon. The room was clean for a motel, but the pipes and the floors squeaked all night. There are gaps in the floorboard that are covered with a garrish green carpet. The freeway is totally loud, so bring ear plugs. Oh, don't forget the homeless tent-city encampment right outside your window. How charming.

  • Disliked — The room, the location, and the homeless camp next door

“ok”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2006

The room was clean but because I was put on the upper floor in the very back, the wireless internet that I was promised did not work. The signal was too faint to pick up. I had to use the dial-up which was dreadfully slow. Also the television had no remote and when manually changing the channel the tv would turn off. Rather frustrating as a solo traveler just spending the night and wanting to watch the tv. The breakfast spread was satisfactory. Since I was looking for something economical in the city and something easy to find I picked this motel right off the freeway. It was easy enough to find but the freeway traffic was pretty loud and since my room was right on the street I was awaken at 3am with a loud blast of fire crackers. Certainly not the fault of the management but irritating non the less.

  • Liked — easy to find from freeway
  • Disliked — television channel changer inoperable and no remote
  • Tips/Secrets — might as well stay somewhere less expensive if possible

“I dunno maybe I got a bad room or something”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2006

Maybe I got a room that had all the reject furniture in it-it was broken ill matched and there was a whole on the cheap maintenence about it. The noise issue is correct regarding the trucks. I had to use their laundromat-the condition of the dryer was not the best and the laundry room doubled as a storage room, access was very poor, the soap dispenser machine didn't work. The breakfast room was overheated, the ac didn't work or they were being cheap by turning it off. The breakfast was nothing special.

Folks-stay at the Governors Inn across the street-for nearly the same price you get a MUCH better hotel!!!!!

“4 star review for a 2 star hotel”

After doing LOTS of research on a hotel in the Sacramento area that was both affordable and not described or reviewed horribly, this one was the best bet. We arrived at 3am after lots of traffic delays and didn't know that we had to call in if we were going to be in after midnight. Our reservations had been cancelled by the website we booked through, but Barry - the hotel manager on site - was SUCH a help! He helped me to phone the website and work everything out. In the end, he ended up honoring the rate we had booked and didn't complain at all - he handled the whole situation very professionally, especially at 3 in the morning!

The rooms itself were very clean - it seems they had just remodeled, so nothing looked dirty or worn out. In the queen suite we stayed in was roomy and well-kept. The only things that were bad about it was that this hotel is pretty close to the freeway and a major road, so you'll hear traffic and also the non-smoking room we got still had a fairly strong odor of cigarettes.

Overall, for the rate and service we got, the hotel was a pleasure to stay at - we were there for 3 nights and were very satisfied and would definitley recommend it to anyone passing through and needing a place to stay at in Sacramento.

“One of the better Super 8's”

I stayed at this place in May this year. Just of the highway, so easy to find but quite noisy. Neutral staff. Outside access to rooms. Elevator and small hot tub available, and in good order. Small but well kept garden around the hotel parking. Decent rooms. Mine was nice and clean, had no problems, and was quite large and comfortanle for the rate we paid. The complementary breakfast however is a joke (a cup of sweet orange juice and a sweet muffin was all what was available when I went there). Just down the road a large diner is available with rapid service, ideal for breakfast.
