“Can't beat the price and rooms are kept up and clean.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Super 8 Sacramento Capital is almost under the I-5 freeway it seems, at Richards Blvd about a mile from downtown. Have stayed there many times and while it is not the warmest front desk, the rooms have always been clean with everything functional. Larger people be warned: the bath towels are the smallest and thinnest available. Perhaps ask for additional towels at the desk? I have read reviews of this hotel that were concerned about security but we have never seen a problem and there is a police substation next door, so it would seem that the location would be quite safe, while it does seem to be off the beaten path a bit. It is close to everything and so well priced we keep coming back.

Room Tip: Visit the room before you check into it to be sure you won't have a freeway noise problem.

“Great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

The previous night I had chosen to stay at the Motel 6 across the highway and wished I had found this place yesterday! For the same price I had a HUGE room that was meticulously clean. The gentleman at the counter was pleasant and even offered to print my friend's boarding passes for her early AM flight. The internet access is wireless and hard wired and is included. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to ANYONE!

“If you want to feel unsafe and unwanted then come here...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

When we first drove up to the motel, it looked alright, just like the photographs. But then we got to our room. It was round the back of the motel just opposite the main road which was so noisy that we could hardly hear ourselves talk, and that was with the windows (that by the way did not even have locks on them) shut. Could definitely do with double glazing AND locks, considering it is not in a good area of town.

One of the reasons that we chose to stay here for the night was because we thought we could have a nice relaxing night in the 'spa'. It was apparently 'shut', according to the owner, even though it was still running.

On top of that, myself and my friend very nearly electrocuted ourselves by plugging in things to the sockets in the room; every one sparked so badly and one had a flame out of it! We wanted to complain but thought because we were only there for one night then there wasn't much point. However, after a terrible nights sleep (which also included people trying to get into our room), I went to hand in the room key to check out and was greeted (or not, as the case was) by a woman who could not have been more rude if she tried. I was asked 'what is it?' in such an abrupt, disgruntled tone, so I just said we were there to check out, and she pretty much grabbed the key off me without a word and walked through the back, leaving me no time to complain!

In short, stay at this hotel if you have a death wish or like to be treated with no respect; otherwise, steer clear! I'm sure there are lots of other nice but cheap places in Sacramento that would more suit your needs.

First let me start of by apologizing, the outside noise was outside our control, I wish we could do something to help that. This month the city is working on the side ramp and the road on the side. All our windows are all double glazed and have two lock systems, one press and lock Handel and the other stop lock at the bottom. If you had contacted the front desk we would have been more then happy to accommodate your concern. We try to make our guest feel safe and accommodating and hope we can serve you better in the future.

“So Very Rude, Should have paid US to stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on 8th June. You would have thought when we arrived that both of us had some sort of contagious disease, the way the receptionist DID NOT GREET US,she was downright rude with no smile,no manner at all except complete indifference to our visit.

I beleive some other trip Advisor has posted a report saying "Get rid of Barry " the manager,I could not agree more.

If Super8 allows this behaivour to carry on I suggest they get rid of him and get staff into the hotel that wish guests to stay. This establishment will not give them a good name.

The hotel itself, is good lovely King bed room and pleasantly comfortable,BUt Oh dear the sleep quality is dire, you are advised to take ear plugs.I asked for a room at the back after seeing the postion of the hotel, which I got,but even here you do near those plugs because the rumble of traffic is endless,as you are approx 200 yards away from the freeway.

The brealkast was good and plentiful. The spa had a few leaves in it, and a plastic pass key from one of the rooms, needless to say from a disgruntled visitor!!

The cost of the double room $144.12.We had intended to stay for three nights but two were quite sufficient.

Stonebrooks restaurant is located just across the street and is highly recommended. While you are here you can visit Folsom Prison which is a must just to see the Folsom Prison Museum, which is run by volunteers, and they are "on the ball" with all the answer to all the questions you could wish to throw at them.

All in all not a pleasant experience and I would definitely would not recommend this hotel to any body,I am sure there are other places that would make you more welcome and appreciate your business.

“Sketchy location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2011

I knew what to expect from a Super 8 and was not disappointed with the motel itself, but that's exactly what it is, just a place to rest up for a night before hitting the road again. It's right next to the freeway but surprising quiet as long as you get a room at the back.

Rooms are a good size, clean with coffee machine, free wifi and cable tv. What really lets it down is the sketchy location. It's not far from downtown and Old Sacramento but you will need to drive. One way to town will be past loads of homeless people who are hanging around the mission and the other way you'll be walking practically along side the freeway! So if you have no car and plan to visit town, get a cab or stay somewhere else! There's absolutely nothing nearby apart from a McDonalds and some other fast food places. It was not a nice area

We were due to stay 2 nights in Sacramento but bailed early after 1.
