My husband and I stayed here on December 30, 2011. We had a party to attend in Loomis, CA. We were expecting bare bone accommodations, so we were pleasantly surprised. The room was basic, but very clean and very large with a separate sitting area with a love seat.

The hotel is located right off the freeway, but our room was very quiet. It is conveniently located to restaurants, a grocery store and several fast food places.

If you're looking for a clean and safe place to stay, we would recommend it. We didn't experience any of the hot water issues like other reviewers. Our non-smoking room on the ground floor was great, even though the decor and bathroom is a bit dated (but very easy on the wallet). Everything worked as it should. We travel with our own sleeping pillows, so we weren't bothered by the flat ones provided.

The free breakfast was an added bonus.

Since I'm an animal lover, it was fun to see plump wild rabbits lounging on the grass surrounding the hotel.

We plan to return when we are in the area again.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was basic, the bed very firm and since it was a room with one double bed, it only had two very small flat pillows. It was quiet and clean.The only problem we had was that we could not get the water hot to run a bath, but it did get hot for the shower. Weird. We stayed in a smoking room, and it did not reek! It actually smelled nice much unlike some places we have stayed. I would stay there again.

Howard Johnson O'Cairns Inn and Suites (Rocklin, CA)
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and that is alot. There was no hot water, no internet, AC works intermittently, etc, etc, etc. If you are in the area stay somewhere else. I have used this hotel in the past and it was OK for the price but has gone downhill. Would not recommend to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on August 22nd, 2011, and were very satisfied with our stay. The room was dead quiet and could be made very dark--just what we needed after a day of driving. The building would benefit from renovations, but our room and the common areas were all clean and functional, if a little dated. Breakfast was included, and was very good. I had an omelet made to order! While it isn't the most beautiful, lavish resort, I found it to be a very comfortable, clean, restful hotel. It's surprisingly nice for the reasonable price of a stay.
