“Great for a stopover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

We were on our way from SFO to LAS and made an overnight stop at Ridgecrest. The hotel was really good for what I expected.

A standard room equipment for a motel, very friendly staff, a clean room and even a "small" breakfast (juice, coffee, tea, muffins, cookies) the WiFi was good as well.

I would not hesitate to stay there again!

“Pleasant stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

I really don't understand why there are so many bad reviews about this place. We stayed there for one night on our way back from the Death Valley and we were very pleased with the price and the service.

The room we got was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The stuff is very nice and kind with a friendly attiutude. We had a great stay there and we would recommend this place to anyone.

“rude staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

This was the most expensive hotel in our entire trip in the area and it was average to say the best. We found that the staff was very rude. Five minutes after we arrived, we had a trying day so we got settled in right away, boiling some water, heating up some food, turning on the lights etc., then the fuse blew out and everything went dark. We called front desk to report this, and the guy came to our room and the first thing he said was "what'd you do?!" in a very accusatory voice. What could we have possibly done? Overloaded the fuse on purpose for funsies? That was unacceptable.

“Nothing but cheap”

We stayed in this motel for one night on our way to Death Valley. We just drove through town and a picked one of the many motels randomly. We did not expect much, just a basic place for one night. But it was disappointing. The room was normal in size, a little bit outdated decoration wise. The room had a funny smell. The air-conditioning was pretty noisy. And our bed sheets were dirty with some permanent stains!!! We told the owners and they changed them quickly. But the whole atmosphere was uncomfortable. The breakfast was continental but very poor with little choice in a tiny corner. All over, you can probably find a better motel for the same price in the town of Ridgecrest. This was the worst hotel of our trip!

“Don't arrive late and expect a welcome”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

I had checked prices of hotels before I got to Ridgecrest but did not make a reservation anywhere. I remember Vagabond with a price in the 50 dollar range. I arrived after 9pm on a Friday. The guy came to the little glass window and told me $65.00! Since I had read the billboard which said "manager specials," I was expecting it to be less than the price on line that I found. The vibe I got from the clerk was that he really did not want to be bothered processing a guest so he quoted me a high price. I went to the Motel 6 instead, mainly because the night clerk here was NOT friendly.
