“Had a nice time in Towneplace suites Redwood city.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

I spend 2 weeks in Towneplace suites, Redwood city in Aug 2011. I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite . I was specific to have a kitchen , this place suited by requirement. The kitchen got microwave, electric stove, dish washer (of course the room service do the washing in it) ,fridge , coffee machine, minimum vessels and cutlery . It was quite functional for a minimum cooking and reheating affair. Of course not enough for a Indian cooking (I'm an Indian).
The bed is quite cosy and comfortable. The aircondition is not centralized , you need to manually switch on and off for all the rooms. There was adequate storage space in bedrooms. Ample natural light in one room and no window in the other one. The one with the window was facing a creek , it was quite good in the morning .
There was a common laundry available, but i felt the number of machines were not enough for the number of suites . So you might need to to go early in the morning to finish it fast.
The complementary breakfast provided was quite limited. Cereals, fruits, milk and muffins. All out of the box (or cover) items and nothing freshly cooked.
The sofa provided in the hall was not very comfortable. There were TV's in hall and both bedroom. Not bad for 160$ per day. I paid the same for single room suite in near by sofitel.

Room Tip: Room facing the creek got a excellent view.

“Nice choice for extended stay”

I went along with my husband on a business trip and this is where we stayed for 6 days. We had the Studio room I believe. The bed was super comfortable (as they typically are in all Marriots I have ever stayed in). The kitchen was perfect with a full refrigerator, small stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and full stock of dishes, pots, etc. Even dish soap provided. I actually had been in a car accident three days before leaving on our trip and spent a lot of time hanging around the hotel trying to recuperate. The entire hotel has a very pleasant staff that is eager to assist with anything you need and do so quickly. I was worried about it being right next to a small airport but since you have soundproof windows i never heard a thing when in my room. Even outside you are rarely disturbed by plane noises. I took daily walks on the nature trial which is pleasant. The hot tub is nice (too bad no pool) and has comfortable chairs and two tables around it. The breakfast is adequate. No protein choices but I bought eggs and cooked them in my room to supplement. The reasons for giving this hotel 4 instead of five are the phone reception in the room was spotty and the wireless internet was not very fast. Also, the lack of a protein at breakfast which would have been nice. They did have fresh fruit, coffee, and hot water for tea and cocoa available all day. They serve really good cookies in the afternoon too. I appreciated those "extras".

I would stay here again with no problem. It is conveniently located to many major corporate headquarters. It is about 10 miles south of the San Fransisco Airport and 10 miles north of Palo Alto. if you get the chance visit Stanford Universities Cantor Art Museum. Outstanding and free too. One of the highlights of my trip. Beautiful campus too.

All in all i really enjoyed my stay here and would stay again.

“Enjoy the nature path!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We chose this hotel because it required a sensibly low number of Marriott points, and we needed 2 rooms for the family. It turned out to be a great choice! The hotel is a quick 20-25 minute drive to the attractions in San Francisco, a good start for heading down to Monterey/Pacific Grove, AND it has a lovely paved and gravel nature path behind the hotel. Every morning we would walk 1 1/2 miles down the path, enjoying the smell of licorice (?) plants, the pelicans, the unidentified birds, hummingbirds, flowers, and the life on the bay - and then walk 1 1/2 miles back to a simple, satisfactory breakfast (yogurt, packaged bagels, cereal, bananas, coffee, etc.). It was a wonderful way to start the morning! And, for the 2 young adults, the shopping center next door (about 1/2 mile) has a Starbucks, a grocery store, and an abundance of casual restaurants... so that they could eat and drink in their usual style.

The hotel is very convenient to the airport, has plenty of parking, and even gave us a reason to go explore downtown Redwood City (a few restaurants, ice cream parlor, very cute!). The staff is helpful, and the rooms are fine. But the real draw for us was the reasonable rate, and the nature path - which set it apart from the other, similar establishments in the area.

Room Tip: The bay view rooms are smaller (studio), but the view is lovely.

“OK”

The 1 bedrooms all face the parking lot, or the small airport, which is right next to the hotel. We wanted a room facing the bay, but decided against it after looking at the room, since the bed is practically in the kitchen! The 1 bedroom is very spacious. However, the room stank from the strong cleaning stuff they used. We had to sleep with open windows Which is also how we noticed the very loud heating/air conditioning units that hang outside every room, and are so lound that the floor vibrates a bit. Nothing for people who are sensitive to noise. However, the weekend rate was very good, especially for the Bay Area, and the room is clean and comfortable. Just don't get one on the ground floor! The one we looked at smelled like mildew/mold (we looked at 3 rooms).

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor!

“Surprisingly good place for young families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2010

When our previous hotel booking at another local hotel fell apart, this TownePlace Suites came through. We needed a small suite because we have two little girls who won't sleep in their parents' room. Not only did they have spacious rooms available, but the price was right.

It looks like another business hotel in a soulless office complex, but it's actually incredibly convenient for families. There's a shopping plaza with a supermarket around the corner (walkable) and a few miles of well-maintained trail follows the shoreline just in the back. The front desk has gone above and beyond to accommodate every one of our requests, and still managed to keep the rooms spic and span.

It's just off of 101 and minutes to El Camino which makes it very convenient to wherever you want to be along the peninsula.

I ding it one star for a pretty mediocre breakfast, but you can't have everything.

We'll definitely be staying here again.
