“Nice Location, needs refurbishing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We spent two nights here on our way to Tahiti. It was in a good location, the staff were very friendly, and the restaurant food quite good. There was an awful lot of wasted space in the lobby area, which would have made a nice bar/coffee area. To get breakfast/dinner and the bar you had to go out of the front door of the hotel and into a door about 15 yards away. It made it seem very separate. The service was good and they had a good selection of food.
When we arrived in the bedroom there was a sweet stuck to the carpet. They did remove it very promptly. When booking in make sure you ask for a room with a sea view. The hotel were very accommodating with regards to this. The bedrooms and hallways are in need of refurbishing. The carpets and curtains are starting to look drab. We could not fault the service and the staff were very pleasant.

Room Tip: Try to get a sea view room. Some of them look over a power station. The amount of sea you can actu...

Thank you for your favorable review. Your observation regarding the lobby area is quite correct, and in fact we are considering adding a lobby bar to this area in the future. Also, regarding your comment about the location of the restaurant, it was intentionally designed to be a little removed from the lobby area to encourage locals to view it as an "independent" restaurant and not have to go through the lobby to get to it. I am pleased that you enjoyed it.
Regarding the need for a refurbishment, you will be happy to know that we are planning a major renovation of the entire hotel, commencing in the last quarter of this year.
Thank you for staying with us and look forward to your next visit!

“Amenities don't meet up with lesser hotels.”

When we checked into this hotel, we were given a smoking room as all they had with a view (which wasn't much of a view). After one night, I couldn't take the irritation anymore and we switched to a city view, non-smoking room. At least we could breathe! Unlike most hotels on this trip (which were lower star rating), no free breakfast was offered. That is really disappointing when you're traveling alot. Also, parking was $23/day for self park, another bummer and not the case at another hotel closer to the beach. Otherwise, not a bad place, but nothing memorable. When we have more time next time, we'll look a bit more.

Room Tip: The rear view of the neighborhood is better than the north side view. Maybe direct view of the marin...

“Good Location; dated but comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Three of us stayed there for a couple of nights sharing a twin Queen Room. As per the other reviews this Hotel is in need of a face lift but it is comfortable and convenient to the beach and harbour. It has a good pool that opens early enough to use before it gets too crowded with family's and sun bathers.

We didn't eat in the hotel but instead had breakfasts at Polly's (excellent) about 5 minutes walk away.

The Whale watching trip on Voyage Excursions was brilliant we saw Blue Whales and several Pods of dolphins.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the harbour and not facing the factory.

“Just a thought...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We went on a family vacation to Los Angeles in December and decided to stay 2 nights at Redondo Beach at Crowne Plaza. Crowne Plaza is a nice hotel, tastefully decorated, comfortable rooms the only downside is the expensive parking and internet charges if you want to use it from your room. I was not aware that using the computers in the business room was free of charge, nobody had told us when we asked about internet when we checked in. So I only found out the second night by accident overhearing another guest talk to the front desk.
Anyhow, my problem was not during our stay, but rather after we left. It was Christmas morning when we checked out as we had an early flight to catch, and leaving in a hurry I had forgotten my phone charger in the room. I had realized it as we returned our rental car and I immediately called the front desk to see what we can do. The woman I spoke to (with a hindi accent I think) was not helpful at all, it just felt like she's brushing me off and although I gave her all my info with the exact location where I left it as well as my contact info I never heard from her although she said she'd call me back. We got back home and I emailed the hotel, offered to pay for for the shipping....nobody even bother to answer my email...
I honestly thought that Crowne Plaza is taking great pride in customer service so for them to not even try to help or answer a guest email was disappointing.
