This Motel 6 'Redding - Central', (off of Hilltop Drive), as well as the Motel 6 'Redding - South', (on Bechelli lane), are identical in quality and ammenities as I have stayed at both of them within the same month. For this review I will focus on the 'central' location.
The room was very clean and looked recently updated. The lighter colored 'wood like' furniture made the room appear somewhat modern, at least of a 90's decor. All of the bathroom fixtures, (toilet, faucets, etc.), were updated as well, but most of all, they worked as they should. Unfortunately, you can't expect a soft, or even medium-soft matress in these types of budget motels. Unless you prefer absolutely firm beds, prepare for tossing and turning throughout the night. I recommend a sleep aid of some type. The rooms are moderately sized for a budget motel. Another low point of this 'central' location is that it can be noisey depending on which side of the hotel you are on. Thankfully, the 'central' location, (as well as all other Motel 6 locations in Redding), appear to be in the more safer parts of Redding.
To summarize, I would have given Motel 6, (Redding - Central), an "excellent" rating if it wasn't for the extremely firm beds they offer. However, you can't beat the price for the quality you get at this place.
Families with children - note:
All the research I have done on crime rates and other aspects of Redding, I have found that the Motel 6 (Redding - South) is the best location for families with children due to the location of the property and far enough away from the high traffic streets. I would recommend the 'central' location as a second choice for families staying with children.
