“Would not stay there again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2007

This hotel is old, dingy, and the rooms are horribly small. The room smelled funny and the floors were dirty! Our socks were black on the bottom. The beds are right up against the wall and they are not comfortable at all. The bathroom was very dingy and the shower was small and just yucky! I would never stay here again! I guess you really do get what you pay for!

“Cheap, Clean and the Pool's a Plus”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2006

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed for 2 nights and found the rooms to be clean but cramped, and the location (behind a gas station) less than desirable. That said, the staff was friendly, even giving offering extra towels, and the pool was nice and very clean. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area (Chevy's across the street) and mall nearby.

“Consistent quality - on a budget!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2005

This Motel 6 'Redding - Central', (off of Hilltop Drive), as well as the Motel 6 'Redding - South', (on Bechelli lane), are identical in quality and ammenities as I have stayed at both of them within the same month. For this review I will focus on the 'central' location.

The room was very clean and looked recently updated. The lighter colored 'wood like' furniture made the room appear somewhat modern, at least of a 90's decor. All of the bathroom fixtures, (toilet, faucets, etc.), were updated as well, but most of all, they worked as they should. Unfortunately, you can't expect a soft, or even medium-soft matress in these types of budget motels. Unless you prefer absolutely firm beds, prepare for tossing and turning throughout the night. I recommend a sleep aid of some type. The rooms are moderately sized for a budget motel. Another low point of this 'central' location is that it can be noisey depending on which side of the hotel you are on. Thankfully, the 'central' location, (as well as all other Motel 6 locations in Redding), appear to be in the more safer parts of Redding.

To summarize, I would have given Motel 6, (Redding - Central), an "excellent" rating if it wasn't for the extremely firm beds they offer. However, you can't beat the price for the quality you get at this place.

Families with children - note:

All the research I have done on crime rates and other aspects of Redding, I have found that the Motel 6 (Redding - South) is the best location for families with children due to the location of the property and far enough away from the high traffic streets. I would recommend the 'central' location as a second choice for families staying with children.

“Clean place for the price in a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2004

Recommended for those who do not want to spend more then $53.00 per night.

It's clean and the staff are generally friendly. The hotel is located in a great location, as it's near restaurants, stores and the Shasta shopping mall.

Most of the hotels on the same street, have room rates from $79.00 to $129 plus per night.

If you can tolerate some noise from the freeway, you sure can not beat the price for a great location.

“Near the Shasta Mall & many restaurants”

The hotel is clean and just off the freeway. It's behind the Chevron Station in a very good area of Redding.
Near lots of shopping and restaurants. Many other hotels on the same street cost anywhere from $70.00 to $120.00 per night.
