“So-So, Tolerable Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A buddy and I stayed one night in a two queen room. We arrived after 10:30pm with a reservation. We were assigned a third-story room in a wing with internal hallways. The desk person was friendly enough. The room looked like it had recent work done but it was not perfect. There was a thermostat on the wall but the digital display was blank. Well, the heater unit had manual controls, fortunately, but oh, and the unconnected thermostat wiring was poking out from under the heater. On this 36 degree night, the heat did come on and the unit noise was tolerable. In the process of figuring out the heat, I stepped into a wet spot on the carpet next to the heater. Rain water had run down the wall and made its way into the room. There was no smell and again, tolerable. The bathroom and towels/amenities were fine but the shower head would not adjust to a desired setting. Yet again, tolerable. The bedding was adequate and clean. The breakfast had basic selections. It was quite busy at around 8:45am and clean-up was lacking. While customers should have the courtesy to bus their items, the staff should have done a better job keeping the food areas clean. This was my first overnight in Redding and I will be looking at other places on my next stay. I believe there are better values in town.

“Lacking, but fairly quiet/clean and allows pets for free”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

It lacked a lot of basic amenities that we have come to expect at La Quinta Inns - most notably a mini-fridge or microwave. It was reasonably clean, but not exceptionally clean. The beds were not as comfortable as with other La Quinta Inns. There was also no fan or window in the bathroom. The elevator was busted, which made taking our luggage up/down from our room pretty painful. To make matters worse - the luggage cart was broken, so it didn't help much with wheeling our luggage all over the hotel to get it upstairs using the 2nd elevator 500ft away. It was also somewhat noisy, since the sound insulation isn't great, so I could hear traffic during the night, but I'm a sensitive sleeper, so this may not be an issue for everyone.

The design of the building is a bit odd with the stairs being outside of the hotel.

It was also surprisingly expensive, so I would not describe it as having "good value." In general it had a weird vibe and felt really run down.

The one good thing is that they accept pets without any extra charge. It was an effective place to stay on our trip back from Oregon to California, since we needed to find a place at the last-minute, but I wouldn't stay there again if I could avoid it.

Room Tip: First floor is probably best - the elevators seem to have a lot of issues. The 2nd working elevator...

“Easy access to I5”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Although the rooms are just Pretty good, this hotel has easy access, plenty of parking (trailer parking), continental breakfast, and welcomes pets with no extra charge. The service is also above average.

“Everything is great....EXCEPT its customer service.”

La Quinta Inn Redding was surprisingly clean and quiet. Room was great. Location was perfect. Our stay at La Quinta Redding could have been better if Wi-Fi was functioning; I had to call for IT support and I spent about an hour on the phone, only to find out that she could not help me at all. It was frustrating. Worse than this, the staff member who checked us in when we arrived--I think her name was PATRICIA--was VERY RUDE. She was not friendly at all. We greeted her and politely stated that we were checking in. All she said was, "What's your name?" in a very disrespectful manner. Her inhospitable gestures and abrasive manner of speaking were aggravating enough for me to write this review. She treated us as if she was doing us a favor! I also felt that we were actually bothering her. Isn’t it a shame and disappointing how one person at La Quinta Redding could negatively affect someone’s impression about this establishment as a whole? Perhaps, it was because at that very moment, she actually represented La Quinta Inn Redding; and at that very moment, she was the spokesperson of La Quinta Inn Redding. Since my interaction with her was worth mentioning, I must say the experience I had at La Quinta Inn Redding just left me with a bitter taste.
I have often stayed in a hotel/motel about a week for every eight weeks, since it is a part of my job to travel around; therefore I always prefer to stay at establishments where I can relax, be comfortable and feel at ease while I rest. I thought I have found another great place to stay and endorse to other people. I thought La Quinta Inn Redding could be added on my list; even perhaps on my company's list. I guess, not anymore! As a client, would I recommend La Quinta Inn Redding? Well, with this kind of experience…ABSOLUTELY NOT!

“Door slammers the most inconciderate people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Most people write reviews in order to make complaints about the hotel. This is a great hotel I give kudos to the staff and loved my courtyard room. It was clean and very dog friendly.
Mine is a complaint about the ignorant, inconciderate people that go in and out of their rooms at all hours and just let the door slam behind them. THINK people! It's not all about YOU. AND one more complaint is about the floor stompers. What the heck do you do to stomp around the room over head to make so much noise? Please.... your not alone. THINK!

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs. The door slamming sounds like a gun shot in the hall. Otherwise it's a great pl...
