“Convenient Location-Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

We chose Bridge Bay for a stopping place when we saw it on the web. The location seemed perfect; half way from Portland to Yosemite. The setting is very pretty with a view of the lake under tall trees.

However, the amenities for the motel rooms are minimal - no microwave, no coffee pot, no refrigerator. And the rooms are outdated.

Maybe the "cabins" are nicer. They have kitchens, but are quite a bit more expensive.

The staff was very friendly and courteous.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, rent a "cabin". But the "cabins" are not cabins, they are...

“Wonderful location but mediocre service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

On our way back from Seattle to San Francisco, we needed a place to stop for the night and we chose this resort based on the online reviews and photos on the website. We were very happy with the location which was right on beautiful Lake Shasta. But the monopoly location that this resort enjoys means that complacency has sunk in. The front desk staff were surly - refused to give us a slightly later check-out time with a flat No - and were generally not helpful. The rooms were very basic with thin walls and we could clearly hear our neighbours upstairs pounding around in the room and having a ball. When we complained, the security guys did show up promptly and put an end to the disturbance upstairs. On the positive side, the boat rental staff were quite friendly and even upgraded us from a fishing boat to a patio boat for no extra charge when they realised that we had very limited boating experience :)

Room Tip: Better to stay on the first floor - not so noisy

“Location, Location...but very dated. Stay in Redding instead.”

If you need to be near the lake, near boat rentals, don't care if the rooms smells, has mold growing in the bathroom, don't care if the TV is older than you, or paper-thin walls to hear your neighbor discussions then this is place for you. This would include the incredibly lousy food from the adjoining restaurant. The lousy accommodations of being near the lake doesn't off-set driving 7 miles into Redding to stay at one of the typical hotel chains. To add to our misery the hotel staff (which includes the boat rental office) had our reservations completely confused...simply an administrative nightmare. In my opinion, you're much better off staying in Redding and drive 7 miles.

“Best place on the lake”

Bridge bay is amazing! Great staff everybody is so helpful! The resort is very clean and safe there are lots of things to do on the resort but most importantly on the lake. They have lots of options when renting a boat whether for a day or weeks they have everything. They even have a grocery store and a clothing store with pretty decent prices especially for a resort. Dont worry if you forget it they have it. Bridge bay is really easy to get to right off of i5. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet getaway on or near the lake!

“Great Location, Clean rooms, Have had better beds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2010

The location at Lake Shasta attracted us.
It was off season, the restaurant has limited hours and closed
just prior to our arrival. We were one of two rooms rented, thus it was quiet, if you don't mind the I-5 bridge traffic, which didn't disturb our sleep nearly as much as the bed did. The King room was very clean and minimally furnished, i.e., bed, small table with two chairs, TV and two night tables with clock radio and lamps. It was old (bathroom was completely ceramic tile on floor, walls and shower) but well maintained. The water pressure was great. New windows had been installed, however, need to be triple paned to provide for the highway traffic. We enjoyed the tranquility of the setting and wished for softer beds. Thrilled that the US Forest Service has teamed with Seven Crowns to provide services at such an enjoyable area.
