“BEAUTIFUL OASIS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

Wow! I just had the absolute PLEASURE of staying in this gorgeous and cozy hotel. My company had a 3 day meeting and it was such a treat to have it at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. The grounds are just breathtaking and everything about the hotel oozes charm. I was so content in my room with high ceilings, a wood burning fireplace and a huge beautiful bathroom that I seriously did not want to leave. Our meeting was hosted in a cozy room with a fireplace and the food was delicious at every meal. As a vegetarian, I was extremely pleased to find 2 very tasty tofu dishes for dinner.
I can't wait to go back for a relaxing vacation!

“A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE”

We had visited the INN about 10 years ago and were disappointed. It was run down and the personnel were unpleasant.
Having heard that it was under new management, and had undergone an extensive update we tried it again, last week. We stayed for three nights.

What a change!! The room was spacious ( about 600 square feet ) with every amenity. It had French doors leading out to a large patio and well kept lawn.

Every one of the personnel could not have been more forthcoming and helpful. It was a busy weekend at the Inn with a wedding, an extended birthday party and a christening. All this activity did not imipact in any negative way on the other guests.

There is an excellent pool; a first class exercise room; tennis courts.

We dined at the Inn (breakfast , lunch, and dinner ). The food was quality in every way and prepared beautifully. The service was perfect; many qualified people in the wait staff.

The Inn is just a short drive to La Jolla and SanDiego. The La Jolla Playhouse is a 25 minute drive. San Diego has lots to offer for entertainment and is, also, a quick drive.

We recommend this facility without reservation.

“Lovely Inn in A Fairy Tale setting- but bring your credit card!!”

Spent a weekend night here as part of a wedding celebration. The grounds are beautiful. Take a short walk through RSF town- it's a fairyland (an old time pharmacy, a cozy coffee shop and restaurant, all which are heavily outnumbered by the investment and wealth management firms and high-end real estate offices!). Look for the stars in the clear night sky. In any other setting, our one room suite would be considered not much more than 'quaint' (a creaky bed spring, big ol' TV in the bedroom, one old - not antique - bureau) but I presume because this is Rancho Santa Fe it's considered 'old world' (it does date to the 1930s and 'full of local character' (code word - you're gonna pay thru the nose for this experience!). The funky kitchen in the suite isn't really intended for you to cook anything more than a pot of coffee in (no big pot/pan and utensil options). The fireplace was ready to go with wood and kindling but we didn't have a chance to use it because of the wedding festivities. The free wireless internet was reliable and fast!Breakfast wasn't included with our rock-bottom $480/nite wedding special room rate; one couple learned the hard way the first day they were here when their breakfast bill with tip for 3 came to $120! Go for an early morning stroll to the coffee shop in town and enjoy the fresh muffins instead! The pool is inviting and warm and the hot tub is a fun place to gather. The wedding reception was very well done, with delicious appetizers, decent entres and a very attentive staff. We'd say this is a place worth staying one night at to enjoy the town, but not a place you can justify for any more than that.

“Overall a great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

I spent one night at the Inn for business and it was a very pleasant experience. If I were to return for a personal stay, I would probably ask for a more remote location. My room was in the only two story building on the property and it was very clean and nicely appointed. There was a ton of closet space and I loved the wooden blinds and beautiful views. The bed was a bit on the very soft side - mattress felt like maybe it was a bit old because of that. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant, both during my own encounters with them and at the business function I attended. Our university had negotiated a really rock-bottom rate, so I was definitely happy with the value of the Inn.

My only complaint was that in the cottage below me, an apparently long-term resident had what sounded like a very large dog. Every time I would go to my room or move around too much it would bark really loudly. When I called down to the front desk, they sounded surprised as if they weren't even aware that there was a dog there. They also had an honor basket in the room for snacks (usual high prices) but when I decided to have one of the snacks it was obvious that it was VERY spoiled. And secondarily, in my room, the noise from the busy main road outside was pretty noticeable.

They did have oranges from the property at the front desk, which was a nice touch and they were really good. I would love to go back for a personal stay, but would be in a more private locale.

“The Inn was the perfect Home away from Home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2010

I stayed at The Inn for five months after the Witch Creek Fires of October 07 damaged my personal residence. After trying out several cottages at the Inn, I found one that fit my needs perfectly and was spacious, secluded, quiet, comfortable and a true "Home away from Home". In the evening for dinner I would either have room service or venture to the historic and charming living room of The Inn and eat in front of the fireplace while listening to live piano music. The Inn allowed me to bring my dog Yum Yum to dinner as well. Everyone at The Inn was wonderful! They took a warm and personal interest in my needs as a guest. It is the perfect place to stay in downtown Rancho Santa Fe as you can walk everywhere and enjoy the charm of the historic village. You can play golf at the private RSF Golf Course which is a fabulous Max Behr designed course of the 1920's!
