My wife & I stayed for a few days in a suite....it was fantastic. The views, the service & accommodation all couldn't be better.......The views from the pool deck overlooking Palm Springs....just breathtaking.

Room Tip: Suite's are certainly the best choice....

“Great Stay”

My wife and I stayed one night at the Rancho back in July 04, we got married in vegas and headed to Palm Springs for one night and then on to San Diego. The Lodge was great, the pool overlooking the mountains was perfect. The room was very large, light and airy we overlooked the pool. My wife was a little disappointed with the room (bearing in mind we had just left the Bellagio). The bar is fantastic though, we managed to sit on the large sofa with the large Oak? Table in front of it, the view from here is also great. Although we only stayed the one night we both really enjoyed it here and it is somewhere I would like to return to one day. We had a great meal in the Mexican restaurant in the main street in Palm Springs.

“Loved the Peace and Quite.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2006

The Lodge was a very speacial place for my wife and I when we visited Palm Springs. The whole property was to our liking and the staff was outstanding. I keep saying the word was because of all the reviews I just read. It would be a shame if The Lodge really has gone down the tubes. Perhaps when it reopens things will be as good as before or better. I will stay there again to see what it is like after the changes.

  • Liked — Quiet
  • Disliked — Lost Reservation
  • Tips/Secrets — Call ahead and see if there are any music events outside at the Lodge.

“Regretted our decision”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2006

Well I just wanted to say how much we loved the Rancho.
We had booked an entire week here for our first stay to Palm Springs. But on reading so many negative reviews we decided to only stay two nights and stay at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort for the rest of the time.
We totally regretted this decision within hours of arriving. And also when we got to the Hyatt and saw how crowded and sterile it was.
The Rancho does need updating that cannot be denied but we knew about that. However it was clean and our maid came in promptly every day.
The pool area was wonderful, the view from there spectacular. The staff were ready to do anything you asked and when you encountered one walking through the hotel they had a ready smile for you.
I am not sure what the problem was with the people who wrote negative reviews but I urge everyone to take things people say with a pinch of salt. Particularly if they have a litany of complaints, those types will obviously never be satisfied.
The last thing I want to say is how much we loved the peace and quiet and we hope when it is taken over and renovated that will not be sacrificed.
GOOD LUCK RANCHO MIRAGE, WE WILL BE BACK.

“used to be great...”

I have stayed at this property both when it used to be a ritz carlton and when it was taken over by rock lodges. It was fabulous as an R-C, still good as a Rock Lodge, but I have to say that this time it's awful.

We booked a golf package and then when we got here, 2 of the 3 golf courses that were included in the package were closed, and there is no longer a golf concierge to deal with this change of 'plans.' It took a half hour to get oatmeal and hot water from room service although the occupancy of the property was only 15%, and the order was missing half of what was requested. IThe tv is tiny and ancient and the cable kept going in and out without any help from the front desk. I have the sense that for some reason the staff is miserable here and take it out on guests.!

I've read that maybe the R-C is taking over again, and that would be great. As it is, it feels like there is no training and no standards for the people who work here--as if they picked everyone up at the temp agency.

Exceptions would probably be the bellman and the fact that there are 2 great PBS stations on tv. And the location is still incredible. Still, I won't be back anytime soon, because my husband and I both used to work for the Four Seasons...we understand that one bad experience shouldn't taint you forever, but there are so many other places to choose from here that there's really no excuse. Maybe if the Ritz takes it over again, we'll consider. By the way, while we're bashing it...years ago a good (and gay) friend of mine came here with his husband and told me they were treated horribly by the staff--openly not respected nor acknowledged--and this was a couple of years ago when it was still a Rock Lodge but still good in my book. So there. Let's go Ritz!
