“Spacious, full of cooking amenities, however noisy..”

Booked a double bed room (meant for 6 pax). Arrived on Fri ~11pm at night, the front desk is closed but the security knew we were coming and gave us the keys. He is one friendly security who did a nice job telling us what to expect in the morning view wise (since our first time here) . In the morning we did our official check in and the staff is very friendly.

Room is comfy for 4 (we came as family of 4), it would probably fit 5 though as it has 1 king bed and 1 queen bed, at least on the room I stayed. The place is very spacious with at least >1600 square feet indoors with balcony that fits a lazy chair, barbeque grill and a small table to allow us to have view of folks riding horses and jogging. This place feels like medium high class apartment. It has great kitchen full kitchen amneties which is a wow for us, and probably the first hotel that we saw having recycle bin. THANK YOU for being kind to Mother Nature. The bathroom is slightly small for standard American size, the toilet bowl is mini. They still have old cathode type TVs. One item that I dislike a lot is there is a lot of sound whenever someone open the water taps, believe it is the pump since we are almost on top of hill. BAD for lightsleeper. They need to fix this one, despite this is only a 2 storey apartment like hotel. One other disadvantage is it does not have hair dryer in the bathroom

It is 1 hour away from San Diego and 1 hr away from Legoland, Carlsbad which is ok for us. The drive to these places from here is winding and countrylike with small roads, but manageable with GPS.

As this is timeshare based (from Monarch Grand Vacations), there is extra service charge to clean up the room, which I am ok with as we seldom use this services whenever we are on vacation. This is probably not ok who has got used to hotel service to clean room every day. It does serve complementary breakfast, which kind of nice if we are lazy to prepare our own breakfast. The only caveat is the coffee maker is a constraint and we always have to wait for a coffee, and we have a not too happy cafe caretaker.

We will come back again

“Great place to go with family”

Nice hôtel, spacious appartments well furnished. Many free activities (pool, spa pool, tennis). You can also horseridding and there is a spa that I didn't try. The hotel is not far from Wild Safari Park San diego. The service is great and everybody was kind and helpful. You should choose this hotel if you like nature because it's quite far from shopping mall. We had an appartment for 6, two rooms, two bathrooms, well furnished kitchen, spacious living and dining room with a balcony.

“Really relaxing for a quiet family break”

We stayed 3 nights here with our 8 year old son. We opted for a 2 bedroom unit, just for a bit of extra space to help us relax. We were delighted with the amount of space we got - the apartment was a great size. Both bedrooms were big, and the living room and kitchen gave us loads of room, and they were very well equipped with everything we needed. We had two balconies (the master bedroom had its own balcony).

The pool and spa was great (we only used one of the available ones as it was the most convenient for our apartment), and it was never that busy whilst we were there, so we always found sun loungers. We took advantage of the tennis courts too. I was impressed at how easy it was to organise tennis equipment to borrow - we hadn't taken our own - we literally just turned up, signed in, and they handed us racquets and balls for no charge. There were also free tennis coaching clinics (although these don't happen every day). We weren't there long enough to take advantage of all the activities on offer, but I believe that bike hire was also free, and there were kids craft activities for a very low cost ($3 - $5 a time) throughout the day.

The supermarkets in Ramona were good, although bear in mind they are a few miles drive away from the resort - if I had realised then we would have stopped on the way there to buy groceries rather than take up time we could have been relaxing at the resort by driving back!

Cooking in the apartment was really easy, as it had all the equipment we could have wanted, even a dishwasher so we didn't have to wash dishes by hand, and a blender so we could make homemade milkshakes and smoothies. You can't take glass into the pool area, but they have thought of this and provided plastic tumblers so you can take a cool drink down with you anyway.

There is no daily housekeeping, but this didn't make any difference, as there were more towels provided than we could have used in 3 days anyway!

The scenery is beautiful, the weather was lovely, the staff were helpful and pleasant, and we had a really relaxing time, which was exactly what we were aiming for. My only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer to enjoy it some more!

“Laid back, Quiet, Relaxing!”

Riviera Oaks is rustic, quiet and relaxing. We had the 1 bedroom villa complete with kitchen and it was like your own house. Amenities are complete, from towels, utensils, you just have to bring food to cook! The patio is a good place to relax. The pools are clean, kid friendly. The nearby Ramona park is a plus. The only downside is I think the carpet and curtains need to be updated.

“A relaxing getaway.”

I was looking for some quiet time and a nice nature hike. I came back with beautiful pictures from the hike and managed to take in a wonderful therapeutic massage at a discounted rate. I had a 90 minute massage for what I normally would pay for one hour. The resort is not fancy, but it is clean and perfect for a short break from the stresses of every day life. I would go back again!
