“This Inn is Magical!”

An awe inspiring view, the romantic pounding of the surf, a beautiful yet warm and cozy room. If you are thinking of by-passing Arena Cove, rethink your travel plans and stay at the Coast Guard House Historic Inn. A friendlier couple running an Inn will not be found. Mia & Kevin go beyond what you could even imagine. Warm, welcoming, and willing to go above and beyond. This Inn has it all...the ambiance is supreme, the food delicious the people delightful. We have had the opportunity to visit several B&B's along the coast, and this one shines like the stars on a gorgeously clear night.

Room Tip: We were lucky enough to get the Surfman Cove room. Spectacular ocean views, wonderful "firepl...

One of the best B and B's my girlfriend and I have stayed at. The innkeepers were great, with a wonderful breakfast and spot on recommendations. Our room was beautiful with a great view of the ocean. We hope to be back very soon!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Coast Guard House for the first time a few weeks ago and we were extremely impressed and happy with our stay. Everything about it was amazing and memorable; the views, the landscape, the house itself, our room, breakfast in the morning, and of course the innkeepers Mia and Kevin. We stayed in the flag room which is a quaint and cozy room that has an amazing ocean view. Our room and bathroom were spotless and the rest of the inn was very well kept and beautifully decorated. I loved how there were original fixtures and old photographs because it made us feel more connected to the history of the house. Mia prepared us a beautiful breakfast with tea, grapefruit (which was expertly cut), vegetable omelets, and homemade blueberry muffins. The Coast Guard House is something out of a dream and we can't wait to stay there again.

“Accommodation with some character”

I spent a night at Coast Guard House in Sunrise room with my wife during our Californian roadtrip.

Inn is located within day's drive from San Francisco, good location especially if you've chosen scenic Pacific Coast Hwy 1.

Building itself is originally from the early 1900's. Nice and calm location with an ocean view.

There's only a few guest rooms, which makes accommodation quite unique and peaceful. Our Sunrise room was idyllic, cozy, tidy, warm and had some character as well as other house too. Bathroom was spacy enough and clean.

Breakfast at Coast Guard House was very delicious and rich. Inn keepers Mia and Kevin were also very friendly and helpful.

I'd say above average basic accommodation, but slightly pricy. However, all the B&Bs by the Highway One were as pricy.

Plus for quiet location, character, nice rooms and breakfast, minus for price/quality.

There is nice local restaurant by the pier in just a minute's walk from the house (superb local seafood).

“Fantastic place and wonderful warm service”

I had a trip that was a mix of personal and business travel. I had to attend a funeral in Eureka and had a business meeting in Sacramento two days later. So I was looking for something at a midpoint along the coastal highway. What a fabulous place! Kevin and Mia are wonderful hosts. The trip through the mountain pass was tricky, but they had provided some directional guidance in advance which was very helpful. Upon arrival, Kevin and Mia came down to greet me and make sure everything was okay. I stayed in the Surfman Cove room, which had a beautiful Japanese soaking tub and a fireplace. The room and whole house decorating was very comfortable and quaint. I left the window open and there was a buoy bell way in the bay that clangs ever so lightly at night – it was very soothing. In the morning, Mia served us a quiche and fresh-fruit breakfast with wonderful flower decorations and great table conversation. There was only one other guest who left immediately after breakfast, so it gave me an opportunity to take pictures of all the rooms that I thought might be helpful to others. I could only post a few due to picture limit, but it will give you an idea of the look and feel. I also added three pictures of the property overall to give a flavor of the Inn and the Bay.

Overall, the area is very quaint and quiet. There is a nice restaurant/bar within walking distance down the hill as you go out to the pier. In town, there are many small shops and small, quality places to eat. The town sports all kinds of regular activities and special events to I would suggest checking first as to what is going on where so you can plan in advance what to do. Kevin and Mia both seem to know the town really well and can give you many tips and advice on the best places to go to eat out. But I was really looking for quiet time and it was absolutely there. That is what was nice to me – there are many things to do but if you want to do nothing, you can just relax and enjoy the quiet.

I really enjoyed their dog Winston, so make a point of meeting him while you are there if you love animals. He is the best!

Overall, A+++ on cleanliness, location and hospitality. I will definitely be back!!!

Room Tip: You will need to bok 2 nights for a weekend
