I Booked this place online through their website because the photos on the site showed tidy, clean rooms. The room we got smelled bad, had gang messages carved into every flat surface, broken sink stand, "globs" of something on the bedcovers, food splotches on the carpet and raw wires hanging from the wall. The Manager insisted that we could not have booked through his site and wouldn't accept our reservation even though I presented him with the printed confirmation etc from his own website. The Manager would not let us cancel the remaining days of our stay because he insisted he does not have anything to do with the website. I had to cancel my credit card because the websites email address was also invalid. Please, please, do not stay here.

The owner is NUTS. He was consistantly coming to our room, our car when we left for the day, and his son had a VERY bad staring problem where he felt it necessary to stare us down any chance he could...be it us walking to our car or through our window if we had the shade pulled. On top of it you are involved with the family drama and hear them yelling at all hours of the day. It is not worth it to stay here.

Do yourself a favor and pay more to stay somewhere else in town. I live in Paso Robles and this is by far one of the nastiest places to stay. My husband and I stayed here one night because we wanted a "night out on the town" and didn't want to worry about driving back to our house 25 minutes out of town. The room was disgusting, it had a moldy/mildewy smell to it and it was dark and dank. The bathroom wall had what appeared to be a blood stain on it and there was one shampoo and that was it. We wanted to take a quick shower before leaving the place and there were only two towels! No handtowels, no washcloths, nothing. I expected roaches to climb out of the walls.

I was not on vacation in Paso Robles, but passing through on vacation. For staying a few days, I'd never pick such a place, but it was quite adequate for overnight, and even had a fridge. With a coupon from one of the travel bargain books, it was absurdly cheap.

It isn't new and is showing its age, but it's decently maintained and has sort of a quaint feeling. The manager was not very fluent in English but was friendly enough. My room was set back from the street so it was quiet, and I felt safe taking an evening stroll around the block before bedtime. There were some odd people staying there and I don't know if they were travelers or long-time residents, but none of them seemed genuinely menacing.

The continental breakfast was nothing to rave about, but good grief, for $40 a night, I don't expect custom-made eggs Benedict and fresh fruit.
