I was booked this hotel thru a travel agency. When I pulled it up online and read reviews I was not satisfied at all however being that it was a done deal, I was willing to chance it. As we pulled in after our long flight my teens keep repeating, "mom i cant believe we are staying at this roach motel". I walked in and was not greeted in a very friendly manner I asked if my room was ready since I was a little early the lady be hide the desk said no rooms are clean right now I explained I had a paid reservation for the suite, her reply was “oh we do have a suite but its very expensive, its 139.00“. I was offended by that remark so I went on to explain the amount she quoted me of 139.00 a night was not expensive and I had already paid for five nights in advance. She than seemed to become much nicer and let me know my room was available than asked me if we needed any maps or directions. Walking in the room was very hot and muggy. It smelled like mold to me. Since the family was exhausted from our early morning flight they decided a nap would be good, i started to unpack and noticed the room seemed dusty and "not used" in a long time. I drove to the CVS and purchased air freshener and Clorox wipes I wiped down everything from the fridge to the light switches. I than began to feel a little more at ease. We are a family of five and I do want to say we did not use the sleeper sofa for it seemed dirty and wet to me. I didn’t want to sit on it. After our first day I got a little more familiar with the area. I became more comfortable. I do want to say the motel/hotel seems not to have any illegal activity (I am sure there is some but none visible) I felt safe after the first night was over. the first night I did put a chair by the door. The little breakfast is a good start they have your usual cereal coffee oj pastries. They have a computer in lobby for internet usage for those not traveling with laptops. Wifi service is good. I would personally stay here again if I would ever return back to the Pasadena Ca area since most of our traveling is out touring the city and not in the room. The area is not to bad its seems to be in a middle class area and not spray painted and gangsters hanging around the block. Cherrytop restaurant is in walking distance and is pretty good. there is a soda machine and snack machine on premise. I would recommend if they knew they had a reservation as a courtesy especially if the room has not been rented out in a while since “its so expensive” to turn on the ac to give it some air. Not your five star hotel but a decent place to lay your head once you get familiar and comfortable with the area. My restroom did have a hole in the ceiling which freaked my teens out, lol but did not harm to us. I would recommend it to my friends/family that are just looking for a decent nights rest. The suite room 201 is roomy. Parking area is small. Traffic can get a little noisy from room.
