Rodeway Inn is clean, safe, convenient, and best of all, super affordable. For the price I paid, I was thrilled with what I got.
Yes, the lobby is nonexistent. So what?? You hang out in a hotel lobby?? Then you really need to learn how to travel better.
Yes, the "breakfast" is pretty much nothing. They shouldn't advertise it but you also shouldn't complain. It's free.
Yes, the parking lot has small spaces but guess what? You're in L.A. You should be glad you don't have to PAY for parking or leave it on the street.
This hotel is located in a decent part of east Pasadena, near the freeways. It is not walking distance to the Colorado Street shopping malls or Old Town Pasadena but it is a cheap taxi ride over there (or drive, if you bring a car, and you should because it's L.A.). The area is safe and convenient, and the hotel is in a very bright area.
The rooms are HUGE. I had a queen room and my room felt like it could have been a suite. I had a mini-fridge, coffee maker, blowdryer and plenty of towels. The bathroom was also clean and newly modeled but pretty small. No biggie.
Free WiFi (and the signal was strong) and free parking made me a happy camper.
The negative: The TV has child lock on it so you pretty much can't watch any programs on, say, FX, TNT, HBO, or USA. I called the front desk to get this removed and they said they couldn't. Which is crap. LAME. But ya know, I'm not there to watch TV.
The pillows are very weak. Keep that in mind.
Otherwise, this place was great and I'd be happy to stay again.
