I was surprised to read the poor reports. My stay was excellent with superb service. My room was updated with a wonderful view. The spa and fitness center are well equipped. Everyone was helpful.

Made reservations thru hotel website. Efficient check-in and valet/bellhop service. Room w/ king bed overlooking courtyard was nice. Desk chair was a little worn and squeaky. TV was old-school CRT, not flat screen. Enjoyed use of pool and well-appointed fitness center. Spa was as expected - good massage. They do offer complimentary shuttle service to anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel. We didn't use it, but I could see how that could be useful.

This is a great hotel centrally located with an amazing decor and a fabulous staff who provide great service.

That, of course, can be either good or bad, in this case both. For the most part, however, the impact has been minor. The hotel is pretty much as it was under Ritz Carlton management.

For our last few visits, we have taken advantage of the concierge floor, the eighth floor, where for an extra $100 a day you have open access to a free full service bar and light meals and snacks. It is a bargain on that basis alone, but more recently we have discovered that it is a great place to meet other successful business people.

Since the new management has rearranged the porch outside the bar to include banquettes and other bizarre seating arrangements, the concierge room has become a preferable alternative. Also, it lacks the cigar smokers who curse the former
