We stayed at Ponderosa Gardens over Christmas weekend to visit family. The motel grounds were very clean. Our room was large with a king sized bed, small table with two chairs, low dresser/TV stand, flat panel TV, and side tables. The light fixtures were upgraded and the linens were new. The room itself was outdated with wallpaper, older furniture and older flooring, but it was super clean. The room was so clean, that we ended up burning a candle because the bleach smell was a little too strong for me. The room also had a mini fridge and coffee pot station. It had a nice closet with mirrored doors and vanity. In a separate room, was a Jacuzzi tub, toilet and another vanity. I really liked the shower/tub combo and the water pressure was nice. The toilet ran constantly, but we just closed the door to the bathroom, and it did not disturb us.
We really only spent time sleeping in the room since we were visiting family. The bed was very uncomfortable and we could feel the metal springs. This is one of the only reasons why I rated the motel two-stars. The bed is pretty much the most important part for me. In the guest information binder, it states to ask for anything and they would be happy to try and accommodate. I asked if we could get a foam pad or pillow top pad for the bed and they didn’t even consider the request. It was too bad they didn’t provide a pad for the bed, because otherwise, I would really recommend this motel.
Another nice feature is the outside patio and parking spot right in front of the unit. We did not bring our dog, but it is a dog friendly motel and we saw many dogs while we were there, which is nice for people who like to travel with pets. They also offer a discount at some of the local restaurants if we show them the coupon they provide upon check-in. Check-out was super easy, we just dropped off the keys and they gave us a receipt.
I am not sure if we would stay in this hotel again, just because the bed was so hard. Otherwise, this would be an excellent option for us since we often visit family in Paradise.
