“Beware of the lipstick”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Even after taking precautions suggested by several other reviews --- best to avoid this place. The management tries to fool you w/gimmickry (such as genuflecting green) & some eye candy.

PROS: Location near Palo Alto, Stanford & on El Camino (main thorofare) Nice gardens on the grounds.

CONS:
1. Old 50s era buildings (except the tower --- but see other reviews about the tower problem) are very tired & worn
2. Rooms on the cramped side, especially w/the size of the furniture. Toilet area very tight w/the TP holder hitting leg.
3. Lighting: Passable, exacerabated by dark avocado green but bathroom too dim & takes several minutes to come on fully.
4. Shower is a very tight 3 x 3 & shower head is 6 feet high
5. Worst "breakfast" (sic) in several decades. No juice, low quality sweet pastries & mediocre coffee.
6. Outside feels very 3rd world w/tacky cleaning carfts blocking walkways & non-English spealers everywhere.
7,. Parking: tight spaces & too few of them. They gave away several prime spaces to electric vehicle charging stations
8. Worn-out concave bed
9. Thin walls/poor insulation from neighbors above & next door

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your stay at the Creekside Inn. We value your comments and are already focusing on implementing or fixing some of the issues you have addressed. We apologize that you found the breakfast options unsatisfactory. The limited breakfast service in the morning is offered to our guests who just need to get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat to begin their morning. For a more extensive breakfast, we encourage guests to visit our onsite restaurant or deli. We hope that you were able to take advantage of our convenient location and are sorry that you found parking limited. Our green efforts (such as Electric Vehicle parking) have been well received by many of our guests and we are proud to be members of the California Green Lodging Program.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write a review as we greatly value all customer feedback.

Kind Regards and Safe Travels,
Creekside Inn Management and Staff

“Quiet Creekside Setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The room was a nice. clean average hotel room and we liked the little balcony overlooking the "creek". The heater/air conditioner unit was a little noisy and could hear the neighbor's kick on & off during the night but overall no complaints. The restaurant was very nice and had a good breakfast-we just missed the hotel's continental-it closed at 9am sharp. The deli is always open and had great espressos and sandwiches if you are hungry. Good location, reasonable rates, great little find in Palo Alto.

Room Tip: creekside rooms quieter

“A Well-executed Funky Throwback”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The Creekside Inn is 1950's California-style motel that has been renovated with such great care that it conveys a cool sense of nostalgia. Not only don't make them like this anymore, they probably never did. It feels almost like your on a movie set.

“Careful they don't charge you twice!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I purchased a two night stay here on Hotwire and when I went to check out on the Sunday, the desk clerk insisted there was "no record of my stay being prepaid." After he searched for about 10 minutes to find it in his system, I got very fed up. He said he would not charge me but would have his manager call me when she got in at 12.30. Needless to say, I had to make the call myself later in the day to confirm with her that they had the Hotwire payment. She apologized and said they did. This place needs to get their internal records in order.
The first room they gave me was on the ground floor facing the pool in the tower building. Do not under any circumstances take a room on this floor. The outside door to the corridor banged loudly each time someone came in and out. I had to request a quieter room. They upgraded me to a king room on the fourth floor which was much quieter. The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was danishes and coffee (not really a breakfast.)
I would hesitate about staying here again - the rooms in the low rise buildings around the creek look like they would be nicer but I think they offer the tower rooms on Hotwire so beware what you are booking. I paid $86 per night through Hotwire which seemed reasonable for the room I ended up with on the 4th floor. The restaurant Cibo next door is overpriced for breakfast. The location is good near Stanford and they have shuttles to take you downtown Palo Alto. I did not use that service. The pool looked nice but it was too cold for me to swim outdoors and there is no hot tub.

Room Tip: Do not take a room on the first floor in the Tower building. Very noisy.

“This place has gone downhill bigtime!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Have stayed here many times over the years- stayed there 12/23/11- they claimed place was full, and could not put us in quieter room on poolside. Streetside room much noisier, next morning found place at most 10-15% full. The internet connection was the slowest I have had aside from modems in Mexico. Room was cold, but turning on heat resuled in quick overheating of room. In morning, found breakfast had gone downhill. Property seems to have new owners.
Willl NOT stay here again!

Room Tip: go elsewhere
