“This is how they welcome a casino guest?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I booked a last minute room as a "casino guest". Check in was fine, sometimes they ask for your casino guest coupon and sometimes they don't. Some desk clerks know that the security feature in their elevator works and some don't. Normally you need your guest key to activate the elevator buttons. But it hasnt been working my last two trips.

Anyway, the night i booked a last minute trip i arrived at my room and it hadnt been cleaned thoroughly. There were dirty glasses in the bathroom, trash in the trashcan, food left in the refrigerator. Housekeeping was called to come clean and you could tell she was fishing for a tip. Who knows what else was dirty in the room.

I enjoy the casino but the slots could use more maintenance, many machines have broken buttons.

The elevators in the hotel (from the Lobby) do require the guest to insert their room key to call the elevator; this is a safety feature for our guests. This is also true for the stairwells in the hotel. On occasion, there are mechanical issues that have to be addressed and we work diligently to resolve the situation when something does not work as designed. The Spa Resort Casino Hotel apologizes for the condition of your guest room upon check in; there must have been an error in the computer stating that the room had been serviced and was prepared for occupancy.

“Take a flashlight”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I read a lot of reviews about this place, but decided to book here anyway.

Surprisingly I found that the casino was not that offensive, or as small as I anticipated. It is not on the level of a Vegas casino, but seemed to have an adequate number of machines. Even though we find cigarette smoke to be offensive, it wasn't too bad.

The hotel on the other hand surprised me. With all the money they spent renovating the place, I expected more. The bathroom was very small with a tub/shower combo that one would find in a motel 6. I am 6'3", but the shower head was at 5' 8" and the head of the shower could not adjust up enough without me bending down to reach the water.

The rooms are very dark with inadequate lighting. There is one light between the beds and one on a desk. There are too many dark areas inside the room. My wife had to sit at the desk with the blinds open to use her make-up mirror. We had duel queens, not sure what the lighting is in a king room.

The pool was a fair size, but there was no shade. Just a few palms around, but not very leafy to cut down on the sun.

We checked in at 4:15 on a Sunday and had requested a king non-smoking room. They gave us one at the end of a very long hall, very far from the elevator with a terrible view overlooking the parking lot and roof tops of buildings. I went back down and asked for one closer to the elevator. I was told I would have to wait an hour for a room to be made up, but a duel queen room was available. I would expect that even though it was a Sunday that by 4:30 their rooms would be made up. The hotel was anything but full. When we went up to the third floor we saw a number of maids cleaning rooms. Check out is at 11:00. It surprises me to see this so late in the day.

Would I go back....never.

Room Tip: If you can, get a king room. It has a lounging chair and a desk chair, as the duel queen rooms only...

Thank you for your recent trip to the Spa Resort Casino. We are surprised that you did not approve of the renovation; we are working on a resolution to the lighting issue you spoke of. When our guests do not check out of their rooms by 11AM, it creates a back log of rooms that can not be serviced as scheduled. When this happens it does create a delay and it can interfere with guests checking in, however, we make every attempt to service these rooms as quickly as possible.

“Wonderful Experience(s)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stay here often (Once or twice a month) For 2 to 3 days at a time
The staff is wonderful! Rooms are clean and they have room service, food is always hot and delicious! We do miss having the restaurant on site (They are all in the casino now) But room service is reasonable and prompt so no big deal! They have three pools two small and one large all heated, the one small one is a mineral pool for adults only NICE! Usually it is quiet and the beds are very comfortable, nice decor throughout! I have been staying here since I was very young just love it! Great place for a weekend or midweek getaway! Relaxing ...

Room Tip: Get a balcony room!

“Great with a few minors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

As you read my review and see a few issues, remember they are minor and we would stay here again and plan to do it. I point out a few issues for the traveler that may have different needs from ours. We are of modest income and expect high value with our limited means. This trip delivered on all counts.
As I write this we have been one the property 4 days and we fly out tomorrow. The property has some age but it barely shows. You would need a more critical eye than ours to find fault. The rooms and halls are spotless, The staff is the most friendly bunch I have ever met. The room is clean odorless spotless and a pleasure to return to at night. We have a king bed that I wish we could take back home with us.
We got a great rate on the room by using a company I had never heard of "bookit.com" and was afraid that something would go wrong. My fears were groundless. The negatives I am about to mention are very minor and should not way to heavy on you decision, but they are things we noticed.
1) The property restaurants are not what we expected. They are all located across the street and are in the casino. They are a bit over hyped on the website, expect much lees than what is described. This was not an issue for us as we had planned to eat off property and this made the decisions even easier. We did try the Noodle restaurant and it was average.
2) The casino was not all that much. My only comparison is Las Vegas, so maybe I expected too much. My wife was concerned that I did not want to go back as I talked up wanting to play the tables before we left. Their was no Craps at all, the Roulette well was a card version and not very many card tables. The slots were fun, but that's not want I really like. We used the Casino twice and hats all a really wanted to do, it just was not all that for me.
3) Room TV. Odd and spotty reception. While we did not really care, while getting ready to turn in, it is nice to be able to watch a favorite show. Some channels reminded me of the old days and moving the antenna to get a picture.
4) Internet. Either it worked great or not at all. If you rely on service while away, be prepared for just walking away and trying again a few hours later. Again not an issue as we were just uploading photos and not really a pressing need.
5) Pool/SPA/etc. All are great, but I find it odd they we working on all this while we were here. This is the "High" season and the film festival is in full swing. Why they don't do this in August when no one is here is beyond me. It was a real construction site with tape, barriers, glue, stone, etc. We had to hunt our way to the spa and just bagged the pool all together. They are close to done, so this should not affect your trip.
I hope this helps, don't be afraid to stay here, we are already planning next year!

Room Tip: Don't be afraid of a long walk to the elevator to get a better bed/room.

“Confusing Website, Not Clear Communication & Rude Manager at Spa”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I went online to find out about visiting the spa at the Spa Resort Casino. Somehow I got switched to the website for Aquas Calientes (not sure of spelling), the Spa Resort Casino's sister spa about 20 min away. I called the number on the website to confirm the details and again ended up with info on the WRONG SPA. So, when I showed up expecting one thing, it was another. I talked with the manager who acted like I was crazy for being confused, even when I showed him online AND explained that I had called. BUYER BEWARE: Make sure you are going to the right location with the right info. CONFIRM the location and NAME. When you call they don't make it clear that there are TWO spas at TWO different locations, with TWO different prices. The websites look very similar, and they use the same promotional pictures. The manager was RUDE and disrespectful. Also, the pricing is confusing, I still don't understand it. I think you have to buy a spa service PLUS pay for use of the spa. Not worth the cost of $45. Go to Aquas Calientes a few minutes away and save your money. I can't emphasize enough how rude the manager was. I left crying. Only silver lining was the hotel manager who was a complete professional and gentleman. I work in the hotel / resort industry, and their pricing/website is confusing for the two locations and when I called they were not clear at all about WHICH property I was calling about. No reason for the manager to be so rude over $20 difference.

The Spa Resort Casino is located in downtown Palm Springs, our sister property, the Agua Caliente Casino is located in Rancho Mirage. Although we are operated by the same Native American Tribe, we are two separate locations. We apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused.
