Dropped by the Visitors Centre as I was entering Palm Springs. They offered a number of accommodation specials, one of which was the Del Marcos. As I drove for a look-see, I noticed how close this place was to downtown and all amenities, so I checked in at the preferred rate as offered by the Visitors Centre (less than half price!). The whole place has a fifties feel about it (opened in 1947) with rooms centred around a very nice looking pool (85 degrees). Lots of loungers around so no fights for position A. Room was clean and comfortable with good air con and toiletries. Flooring was painted concrete (I think that’s what it was) but no big deal, although carpeting would have been my preferred option. There are bikes on the property to use at no cost, plus a complimentary light breakfast. The owners seem to have thought of everything. If you are looking for a place to stay in central Palm Springs, this is it. A world away from the Hilton’s and Marriotts of the world, and perhaps that’s what makes this place a little special. Would certainly stay here again if ever in Palm Springs.
