“We got a great hotel suite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We are traveling from coast to coast, stopped in Palm Springs for a day of hiking, stretching, walking about, going to Sherman's. The hotel suite at the Chase is excellent...its really a small apartment with living room, king bed, real kitchen and bathroom. TVs in both Living room and bedroom. Big saline heated pool and a trail up to the hills right out of the hotel. Great hiking weather (try Araby hike...past Bob Hope's house). for good hiking info go to the Visitor's Center...staff don't have maps or any written info. The hotel is two blocks from the main drag, restaurants and shops. No fitness or exercise room however. Breakfast was fruit and carbs, but the coffee was very good. Even my husband liked it and he's a self designated coffee snob. The staff was cordial and helpful when we asked for a second luggage rack..one was provided quickly. We definitely recommend this place (free parking included) and will return.

Room Tip: We stayed in 101...

“A nagging thought in the back of our mind”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

Great location, nice pool, nice complimentary continental breakfast and lovely cookies. Rooms were a good size, and kitchenette was very useful. Use of Laundry room was also great. The room stock was a little tired. Wifi didn't reach our room, but happy to sit in reception. So in all - good value for money. However, the nagging thought in the back of our mind was that we didn't feel welcome. We arrived with two children (aged 1 and 3), and we felt an instant disapproval from the person on reception. Everything we asked for (crib, for example) was a hassle. The crib we received was disgustingly dirty and needed cleaning. I'm sure the person wasn't being rude, but it set the tone for our entire visit. The morale is that great service can overcome a hotels physical limitations, but you can stay in the Four Seasons and have a poor experience if the Service was bad.

“Wonderful Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Charming mid-century modern hotel right in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. Couldn't ask for a better location near the bars, restaurants, and shops. Courtyard is beautiful. The staff is terrific (thanks, Rick!) and housekeeping did a superb job. We had a King room with Kitchenette; having a fridge and microwave was definitely good for dealing with left-overs. It was a bit loud sometimes in the mornings, being next to the housekeepers laundry. Better sound proofing would be nice. If you require brand-new construction, this hotel is not for you. If you want a classic desert gem at a reasonable price in a great location, you will love the Chase Hotel.

“Cockroaches, noisy, no-wifi”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

2nd stay and really disappointed. there were cockroaches in our room, the carpet was filthy, and it was so noisy all we heard was constant banging and yelling by our room by housekeeping all morning. i think we were given the worst room. the wifi didnt even reach our room which we needed and inconvenienced our stay. there was not enough parking and we were stuck parking down the block which was unacceptable. the only good things were, location, front desk people were friendly and they served complimentary breakfast.

Room Tip: stay away from the entrance/exits they are loud

“Palm Springs Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

What a lovely little hotel! Friendly staff, comfortable and spacious rooms, very easy place to relax and quickly feel "at home".

In a different setting it might be possible to complain about the retro bathroom with original pink tiles and very narrow shower door. The kitchen too is tiny - a 2 burner hot plate, exactly 2 of each piece of cutlery and dishes. It is admittedly a bit challenging to actually cook a meal in the kitchen. But what was not supplied in our kitchen was readily available to borrow from the hotel's main kitchen.

Those things just seemed like minor inconveniences when measured against the retro decor and it's ambience, the very friendly people we met around the pool, the meticulously beautiful landscaping around the pool, hardworking and trustworthy staff who were also hilarious at times and easy to banter with. Our bedroom was spacious with 2 large closets and a comfortable king bed. Loved the breakfasts, loads of fresh fruits, fresh baked goods, coffee, tea and juice. There was always a fruit bowl in the lobby to take an apple or orange from at any time of day. And then of course the fresh baked cookies each afternoon of which my husband probably had more than his fair share!

The location is perfect. I have a physical disability and cannot walk long distances, but the main drag was a 60 second walk away with easy access to lots of great restaurants.

We do not usually go to the same place twice (there's so much to see), but I can foresee us returning to the Chase again for another week of sunny relaxation.
