“Uniquely Surprised.”

If bright colors is your theme, this is the place to stay. Quite honestly, I enjoyed the splash of colors that made this place fun and unique. It is a brand spankin' newly renovated hotel and I was pleasantly surprised, especially, the pool area that boast a captivating back drop of the San Jacinto Mountains and the pool bar provides a variety of specialty drinks and domestic and import brews. The lounge area outside the Tinto Restaurant offers a casually sophisticated scenery that uniquely merges a classic look with modern elements. The hotel location is a mile and a half from the heartbeat of Palm Springs and the hotel provides courtesy shuttle service. The entire staff provided world class service during our stay. Finally, we were one of the first to dine the Tinto Wine Bar and Restaurant for breakfast and I will say it boast a cozy and warm ambiance. I will also say that I enjoyed the Tinto Eggs Benedict; yet, I wish it was a heartier portion based on the price we paid. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our stay at the colorful Saguaro.

“Loved it!”

Everyone is basing the review off the first week of the opening, I get that...but I know they are definitely looking for feedback and to work out all the kinks that they hear from all the guests trying it out. I stayed here Feb 10-12 and was nothing but excited to be on this property the whole time. The vibe, the employees, & the colors are so vibrant; I didn't want to leave!

I really loved the pool and the drinks poolside. I know after the restaurants open, they will have full service by the pool. I loved the tequila bar, we went to the soft opening of it unexpectedly and we were able to test out their drinks before they opened.

We got the city view room which was great because I found out they are so much larger than the other pool view rooms. I didn't mind the city view at all - you still saw the mountains and palm trees. When you shut the sliding door, it was completely sound proof.

I would say the only two slight drawbacks to the room which can easily be addressed would be the lack of outlets - we had to move the tv stand or crawl under the desk to get to them. And, for some reason there was not a light next to the bed so we moved the one from the desk that we never used to the bedside and it was a lot better.

Since all the colors are so perfect but yet so personalized in each room, I hope the upkeep of each special color is held up & retouched as time progresses. The dark purple carpet in the hallways were so pretty but attracted every piece of dirt, which is unfortunate. Lots of vacuuming, I guess.

I am returning in about 3 weeks and already booked it, was able to hang onto my special 1/2 off discount from my first stay :) I am planning on moving to Palm Springs from LA in the next few months so I'm sure you'll see me more often than not!

Room Tip: City view rooms are larger than any other standard room.

“Judge a place by how they react when things go wrong!”

My family and I stayed at the Saguaro on their opening weekend. We found them via Expedia, and selected them because of the half off price special. We weren't really sure what we would be getting -- the photo's on Expedia didn't show pictures of the pool area, but indicated one existed. On with the story...

So we went! We checked in. The lobby area is fantastic - very "happy" -- and I would suggest this is true of the entire place. It is colorful, but tastefully so. The place used to be a Holiday Inn, and maybe that chain can take a play from this book. It works!

Our first challenge was finding our room. The elevators are a little "hidden" -- it was surprisingly difficult to find the elevator! Every entrance to the hotel requires a room key to gain access - and the doors are very difficult to open, perhaps because they are new.

You might get the feeling this review is going to be negative, but that is not the case. Let me explain...

We eventually found our room. I believe we were the first occupants of the room - that's nice! The room had a microwave and a refrigerator and safe. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. It had a balcony that overlooked a very nice pool/hot tub/bar area. This view should be included in the online photos. It is awesome! The colorful decor extends into the pool area - nice, yellow loungers with pink towels placed neatly upon them.

The staff is incredible. Very nice. Perhaps because it was opening weekend?? Suits - very nostalgic and very classy. All that is great, but what follows is why I would suggest you stay at the Saguaro:

We checked out. I scoured the room for our belongings, thinking I had everything. Turns out, one of our kids was playing with the ipod in a bed, and it was hidden in the sheets (so I think). We got home, unpacked and didn't have the ipod. I called the hotel that night and they had it! The housekeeping staff didn't take it, but turned it in. That's all great, lot's of integrity. But here is where I think this hotel has gone WAY above and beyond.

They agreed to mail it back to me, of course, I would pay for the postage fees. They called me the following day....did you get that...THEY called ME --- Hi, we needed to setup a fedex account, so it will not be mailed until tomorrow. WOW!! New hotel, I'm probably the first guest that needed something mailed to them so they didn't have a FedEx account. No problem. But... THEY called ME!! How often does that happen these days? They called AGAIN the next day to give me a tracking number. I didn't have to chase them - they took care of business and I will give them my business next time I visit Palm Springs. This level of service was completely unexpected - it was way above and beyond the norm these days. I LOVE IT.

To the staff of Saguaro: PLEASE, I beg of you, don't change your quality of service. I hope this wasn't because you are new. This is the type of thing that will set you apart from different hotels (companies in general). Little efforts like this go a long way. They make a lasting impression - one that will make me remember this experience from many others. WAY TO GO! Good luck, I wish you the best and thank you for a great experience.

Room Tip: Get a top-level room. Pets are allowed - this may be good or bad. We didn't have any, but mayb...

“On the road to greatness”

We checked into this property after spending 5 nights at the Westin Resort,we looked for a change. Boy did we find it, while some bumps appeared, limited services, key card problems, lack of wireless and a need for more staff training, We will return.... The GM addressed the problems immediately and effectively. As for a change of pace from the Westin this is it, colorful, friendly and potentially very chic... Travelling more than 200,000 miles per year we usually find this type of property costing much more... Cant wait for the F&B outlets open...

Room Tip: Pool side first floor or top floor facing pool great views of the mountains

“Very disappointing...”

We were very looking forward to our stay at the new Saguaro - the colors attracted

Like other reviewers mentioned, the grand opening doesn't occur until the 2/13 so nothing was open during this soft opening weekend - and it really showed. The registration/check in area is very bleak with cement floors and a little splash of color - it didn't feel warm and welcoming at all. All of the restaurants were closed so you have to either go across the street or into town in order to eat.

When checking into our room - housekeeping had not arrived yet and our bed was unmade. We weren't sure if we were in someone else's room! Granted, we arrived earlier than the usual 4pm check in, but we were informed at the front desk that our room was ready. I had also noticed that we were put in a downgraded room than I had reserved. I called the front desk and housekeeping was informed to immediately attend to us. I had mentioned that we were not in the correct room that I had reserved and the front stated that because their cabana rooms on the 1st floor were not complete yet, we were put in into another room- WHAT A LACK OF COMMUNICATION! I asked for the difference to be charged back to my credit card, however was informed that the cost difference between the rooms was only $5 and that since I booked on Travelocity, there was nothing they could do about it. I WAS FURIOUS!

To divert my attention, we visited the pool area which had a few well drinks, beers and sangria available. The bartenders (Michael and Shawn) were very nice and friendly - we chatted up a storm with them.

When going back to our room, we discovered that the bathroom was not cleaned either. Soiled towels were in the bathtub and used soap was in the sink. Fed up, I called the front desk again and demanded to speak with a manager. I informed Michael about how housekeeping had not come to our room nor did they do a thorough job and the lack of communication in regards to the room that we booked and what we were given. Michael discounted our rate by $40.

The room itself: The Pool View King room was quite small. The door banged shut and there was much noise coming from outside of our room as well as from other rooms. I didn't think that it was much of an upgrade from a Holiday Inn.

Upon check out at the front desk, Michael apologized for the inconvenience and gave us a bottle of champagne and some chocolate-dipped strawberries. As much as I appreciated the remodel, I don't know if I would stay here at full price.
