My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Palm Springs over the MLK holiday and enjoyed our stay. Upon check-in we were given a free upgrade from the city view room I had booked to a golfcourse/mountain view room. It is always nice having a suite with a separate living room.
The highlight of our stay was getting an invite to the party for the Palm Springs Film Festival. It was a large affair that filled the restaurant in the atrium area, the bar, and the pool. Rather than dealing with those that might complain about this takeover of the hotel's public areas, the management wisely invited the guests to join the festivities. I was a bit skeptical of this blanket invitation, and was pleased to find plenty of free food and free drinks after simply showing the bouncer our room key.
The were, however, a couple of things that kept the Hyatt from getting 5 stars. After leaving our room mid-morning to enjoy the Palm Springs tram, we returned in the late afternoon and the room had not been made up. A call to the front desk solved this problem and the maid cleaned up around us while we watched the NFL playoff games. This brings me to my second gripe. For some reason, the beautiful flat screen TVs in the living room and the bedroom don't get HD signals. An insignificant issue for many, but we had planned on watching the NFL playoff games during our stay. These things certainly wouldn't keep us from returning or recommending the Hyatt as a place to stay in Palm Springs.
For those of you that don't mind a little exercise and want to save the $15 a night self-park fee, there is plenty of free, unrestricted parking behind the hotel on Belardo Road. It runs the entire block. I simply rolled up, dropped off my wife and bags, and found a spot we could see from our balcony. With the money we saved, we enjoyed a nice meal at Cheeky's. They serve the best BLT I have ever tasted. The bacon is spiced, but not too severely, with jalapeno. Man, it was good! The hotel is also in the heart of downtown Palm Springs and convenient to the shops and restaurants. Definitely would stay again.

I truly enjoyed reading your review of our hotel. We had the honor of hosting the closing party for the Palm Springs International Film Festival which drew approximately 900 people to our hotel. I'm so glad that you both joined in on the fun and excitement. It only happens once a year! And the food was soooooo good!! We are patiently waiting for HD to come to our hotel. The cable company needs to make this happen....I wish it was sooner than later. And....I'm going to Cheeky's to try that BLT you mentioned...sounds fantastic. Thanks for staying with us and I hope when you come back to Palm Springs you come back to the Hyatt!! Cheers.
