“Great propety -- classic mid-century modern and relaxing times”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Got a great deal on a King suite (5A) and had to take the chance. The room was pretty spacious with a very cool interior and decent amenities. The al fresco shower was a nice touch, though the cool winter nights meant it wasn't used more than once.

By and large, the property is in amazing condition. The paint in the suite could have used some touch up, we could hear neighbors when standing by the "junction" doors that allow suites to be expanded (this is not uncommon at any hotel with this feature) and the "casting couch" area needed a good steam cleaning (this is why I won't give 5 stars), but EVERYTHING else was immaculate.

The breakfast options got a little limited after five days, but hey -- it was included and a great way to start the day, especially while served in bed. At night, wrapping up an evening with champagne in the spa (in plastic cups, of course) put a really great cap on laid-back Palm Springs days.

Service was terrific when needed. Unobtrusive when not.

I will definitely book again when headed to Palm Springs.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the parking would be ideal, but would have more traffic by them in busier months due...

“Perfect Hotel for Adults”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This adult-only hotel was quiet, right on the edge of the town of Palm Springs, and was an outstanding renovation of a classic mid-century modern home with its wonderful casitas for guests. The room felt like your own home since each room does not face anyone else, and we had a little patio with two chairs facing the pool. Adored the open bathroom (had courtyard and wall on one side so you could look at the mountains while you showered!).

Breakfast was brought to the room promptly on time with excellent coffee, juice, yogurt, and rolls. The only suggestion I have here is to add a fruit choice to the mix but this might be a problem for such a small property. The property is accessed by a key which opens the gate, so you feel very secure within the grounds, which are spacious and include a lovely pool, hot tub, and bar (closed when we were there since it was a little cold). We didn't have a problem with the 8-8 schedule, but we were aware of it ahead of time. Also should mention great restaurants within walking distance and some deliver to the hotel if needed.

For mid-century modern freaks, a delight!

“Stay Elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

This hotel is a long drive into Palm Springs. There are many good hotels much closer to the freeway. The rooms are spartan and there is nobody on duty in the lobby from 8 pm until 8 am. Since there was no coffee maker in the room, there was no way to get coffee until someone came on duty, and even then, we had to wait until a worker brought the drinks to our room, which wasn't until 8:20. An alarm clock by the bed went off at 6 am, so we were forced to wake up early. Also, the lights in the bathroom flickered on and off and there was nobody working in the evening to fix them. Our one small queen-bed room cost $135 plus tax and was definitely NOT worth the price (there wasn't even a couch or table). This hotel choice was a big mistake, which we will not repeat.

“The perfect lodging for couples”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We really love this hotel! Perfect environment. Great swinging pool, Jacuzzi nice room, good breakfast served in your room (is not a buffet, the night before you have to choose the things that you want: cereals, bagel, coffee, orange juice…), free Wi-Fi.

Bad things:
- Light: The room is big al with a lot of light. However, in the mornings the curtains don’t do this job and a lot of light enters in the room.
- Ice machine didn’t work. We got the impression that the machine hadn’t been working for a while. However, we asked for some ice in the reception and we got it.
Important things:

The hotel is for couples and not for families with small kids.

The Hotel it is not situated in the downtown area, however in a short drive you’ll be in downtown.

Large part of the day there is no reception desk, consequently we suggest you to contact to the Hotel if you are arriving late or early.

“My favorite hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Second visit to the Horizon this year and once again had a wonderful experience. Comfortable, relaxing and with unbeatable views, it truly is one of my favorite places. And it's also very quiet, offers free wireless and breakfast. The rates are very reasonable for the quality of the experience and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Horizon is really well kept and is also included on the Palm Springs Modern Architecture tour. It's also very convenient to town and great restaurants, shopping, hiking, etc. We most definitely will return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room where you can see the mountains from your bed!
