“Great location and family friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

We spent two weeks at the Enclaves. Extended family joined us for weekends. We had our two year old grandson for one week and he loved the walk-in pool. Pool bartender, don't remember his name was great! We only ate lunch at the pool bar so can not comment on other restaurants. October is reseeding month for the golf courses so no golf but we knew that and it wasn't our focus this trip. Enclave two bedroom worked out well for our family. Modern design but roomy enough. Kitchen was functional. Toaster broke and within a few minutes a replacement was brought. Rooms are bright and cheery. They were smart to use some leather upholstery because of wear and tear. We had housekeeping come in three times to change sheets and clean.
There was a mix up with our 2nd week reservation (Interval International mistake) but the front desk honored our request. There are alot of units at neighboring shadow ridge villas with a pool set up of one large complex with multiple pools. Too crowded and we were glad we were at the Enclave. When they build more units they need to add more pools.

There were always clean towels available poolside and plenty of lounge chairs but no umbrellas. In the hot desert they need umbrellas. The tents or cabanna's that are available are way in the back and not practical for safely watching children in the pool.

Location is excellent to restaurants and shopping in town. We had a horrible breakfast at Sherman's Deli and was so disappointed. Went to dinner at Pacifica and not impressed. Entrees in the $30 range and just ordinary. Comments are that Palm Desert is a resort town but that doesn't mean that you have to overcharge for mediocre food.
Amici's Italian restaurant was excellent and allowed us to bring in a birthday cake. Wednesdays wine is half price! We made a reservation for a Saturday for party of ten and they accomodated us with great service and delicious food at fair prices.
LG's steak house is a treat and excellent. Best Caesar salad!

We flew in to Palm Springs airport and it's small and very convenient.

Children's Museum is wonderful - took two year old grandson and he had a blast!...and so did we!

All in all a great trip and we will go back. Our time share is in Scottsdale (wonderful) but enjoyed Enclaves just as much.

“Great place, great value, great tennis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2010

We chose Palm Desert because one can count on tennis not being affected too much by the weather (we had a little wind). The tennis facilities were great and the pro, John, was excellent for private lessons. We did not rent a car but used Sky Capp Shuttle service and would highly recommend over a taxi, $40 for 2 people. They were prompt, friendly and had a comfortable ride. We stayed in a one bedroom condo with a full kitchen. We walked to the grocery store and cooked most of our meals in the condo.

“Nice and Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2010

We selected this spot mainly for the pool. It was a charming place. Although, it was a bit older, a lot of remodeling and renovations were evident. We felt very comfortable here and thought that the $139 price was very reasonable. Our room was very large and included two twin beds which was a little goofy, but we were two friends so we were fine with that. The room also had a sofa, a nice kitchen with granite countertops, a beautiful bathroom, a closet, and a balcony. The pool was large and the surrounding area was pretty. There was a cute, little, convenient restaurant near the pool. Although we didn’t use them, there was a ping pong table near the pool, and LOTS of tennis courts. It was about a 10 minute to walk through a neighborhood to El Paseo. We enjoyed a very nice stay here.

“Quiet resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2009

We stayed here for 8 nights in September. We have been to Palm Springs a few times as the weather is always guaranteed to be hot and sunny. Previously we stayed at the Marriott Shadow Ridge but as this one was half the price, we decided to give it a go. It wasn’t quite as nice, we only had a room whereas the Shadow Ridge had 1 bed suites. This meant we only had a stove and a fridge in the kitchenette area rather than a full kitchen. The room had a large, comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean with a decent shower. The air con unit was pretty noisy and you had to have it on full all the time for it to have any effect including all night which was a bit annoying.
We chose this resort after seeing the pool area online. It was a lovely pool, very large and perfect temperature. The surrounding area was OK and the sunbeds were adequate. There was a poolside café but it was closed for refurbishment which we weren’t told about before we got there. It was very quiet here, we were the only ones at the pool for most of the week and it could have done with having a bit more atmosphere. Parking was free. Wifi was available around the pool area and in reception but not in our room. There were coin op laundry areas dotted around the resort. The Palm Desert area has lots of restaurants and convenience stores but you would need a car to get around.

“Great Place for Family Reunion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2009

We rented 18 units for a family reunion. As each condo unit is individually owned, there was some variation in the quality of rooms. Of the 18 units, 3 could have been better maintained (worn, older furniture, appliances), but the other 15 units were very good to excellent. All units were very clean, had kitchens or kitchenettes, and house keeping did a great job.. The grounds are fantastically maintained. Within a few feet of each unit you have a gigantic pool, nice BBQ area, volleyball court, table tennis, tennis courts.and a golf course. The management was very good in accommodating our needs.

The resort is a gated community, located two blocks from El Paseo Drive (upscale shopping) in a quiet, secluded neighborhood, We had approximately 50 family members staying at the resort. THEY ALL LOVED THE PLACE. Even the three units with average furnishings were so convenienetly located close to the pool that the families chose to keep the unit because their children loved the location.

As the coordinator of the reunion, it took some negotiating to resolve a few issues with the Resort contract, but when we hold the next family reunion in So Calif, Shadow Mountain will be at the top of the list for consideration. Overall, a very positive experience and for the price, a consumers "best buy".
