We stayed at the Best Western Plus Lighthouse last night. We were lucky to visit on a weekend with amazing, clear weather. We reserved a partial ocean view room, and were assigned room 446 on the 4th floor. The view was "partial" because it overlooked part of the hotel lobby, but it wasn't that noticeable. The view to Rockaway Beach was very nice!

The king sized bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. There were sliding glass doors out to a non-existent balcony (you couldn't step out on it at all). We slept with the door open, to hear the waves crashing just outside our door. Very relaxing! The bathroom was clean, and the shower water was hot and the water pressure was good. The hotel is at the end of the street, facing the ocean, and people gathered there to watch the gorgeous sunset.

We'd definitely stay again.

Good
1. Great View. One of the best view I have ever seen. I was touring SF and although it took 30 minutes to get to the city, it was well worth it.
2. Great management. I had a couple of issues which the management took care of, right away
3. Comfortable room. I have two teenager kids, so I was looking for a room with two queen sized beds which was hard to find in the SF area. Through the best western, I found a nice room which met my needs in a very reasonably priced way.
Bad
1. I felt the room which I stayed had a low water pressure in the beginning and sure enough, we had a clogged toilet. When it happened for the first time, I called the front desk and they took care of it right away. But it happened again and the management offered to provide us with a different room and we were very thankful.
2. When we got to the second room, only one of the two key cards worked so we had to go back to the front desk and ask for a new key card. The next day, both stopped working so we had to again go back to the front desk and get our cards re-validated.
3. My wife felt that two of the pillows smelled like a urine and we basically stopped using those pillows. This hotel is pet-friendly and as much as I like pet, I wondered whether this had anything to do with the urine smell which my wife experienced.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I wanted to get away from downtown SF and enjoy the sound of the surf. The Lighthouse did both of those things for me. The hotel is old, but the room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. My only complaint would be that the desk clerk who checked me in never mentioned anything about breakfast and by the time I arrived that first night, I was too tired to think to ask. I believe they have a free breakfast, but I'm not sure. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the SF are. The drive to downtown is not bad at all.

We visited this week after we were able to catch a great rate during the BW "Cyber-Monday" sale a month ago. We were very pleased when we ended up with a first floor room with a great ocean view. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower we excellent. The only issue we had was the wifi was spotty at times and virtually non-existent in the evenings. Other than that we couldn't have been happier with our stay. All the support staff we dealt with went out of their way to make our stay a positive experience.
We are already looking for dates for a return visit.
