This place used to be comfie, charming and a cut above the multiple other small inns on Asilomar Blvd. Sadly this has changed. It had been about 5-6 years since we stayed here, and upon arrival we were given the same room as we had stayed in the last time - and absolutely nothing had been changed - down to the worn bedspread. The carpet, furniture, closet door were all dirty and well past need of an update. There was someone else's soda can left on the back stoop. The room was cold as there were only wall heaters which were turned off. Because the construction creates a drafty environment, it took a long time to get the space to a tolerable temperature. The next day, we were out when the maid came, and she apparently turned the heater off again. When we got back that night we had to reheat all over again. The bathroom had no heat source at all, and with a tile floor, made for an unpleasant experience if the door between the bedroom and bathroom was closed. The breakfast room was also pretty dirty, and the breakfast food supplied was minimal - stale cereal, hard english muffins and bread, juice, coffee, yogurt. At $150 per night, I did not consider this 'luxury' accommodations, as the place promotes itself. The staff are very nice, the bed was good and the location is great, but the management is really neglecting upkeep and not maintaining a standard of luxury or even going beyond an average motel. This place has potential to be a real charmer again, but it is going to take some investment and effort. It was not the sort of Christmas week get-away we had hoped for, and we left a day early.
