Had a terrific two nights at this bed and breakfast. Housed in two historic houses in beautiful Pacific Grove, just blocks from downtown. My 4 sisters and I had a king suite and a queen room to fit the 5 of us. The rooms connected and we had most of the bottom floor of one of the houses. Each room had a gas fireplace (plus one in the sitting room of the King suite). There was a small refrigerator in the room, and heated bath towels in the morning. The full breakfasts were yummy - with make-your-own waffles, juices, yogurt, fruit, cereals, bread, bagels and english muffins. Plus Chrisine (the on-site manager) made hot egg dishes each morning too. There was coffee & tea available all day, and wine, cheese, crackers and other tasty items in the late afternoon. To top off the edibles, fresh baked cookies were available in the evening, as well as microwave popcorn. They did not have dvd players, but they have a large selection of vcr movies that can be used gratis. All the rooms are nicely done - would make a lovely romantic get-away, and also had rooms large enough to fit a family with children. We could hear the street traffic at night, but 4 of us live out in rural areas, so I think we were more sensitive to the noise than most other people would be.
We enjoyed all the shops downtown, a trip to see the monarch butterflies, and the tidepools at Asilomar. The Red House Cafe is really good! Has the best calamari ever!! Never even felt tempted to go down to Cannery Row, but it is only a few miles away if you want to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We missed going out to the Lighthouse, as they are only open on Thursdays and the weekend.
Christine gave us a great deal on the rooms and even with all the taxes, etc, my sisters and I were able to have a special time together for less than $90 a piece.
