This is a nice, pet-friendly Inn in Pacific Grove, right next to Monterey. The rooms was cozy and fairly roomy at the same time, also very clean, quiet, and with comfortable beds. Our only complaint, if it can be called that, is that the price on weekends is literally double what it is during the week.

Stayed for two nights in late October. This is a very nice, if not fancy, little property. As others have said, it is within a 5-10 minute walk to a beautiful beach (Asilomar Park). You can walk for quite a distance along the water's edge.

Folks should understand that most units do not have a balcony or patio. Several of the pictures show a patio - but only a couple of units have them. However, the grounds have nice open grassy spaces with plenty of chairs and tables to sit and enjoy the outside. We also found out bed to be quite hard. Hard, not firm.

I would definetly stay here again. The location is great. The grounds are pretty and rooms are more than adequate. And the price is reasonable for the area. We payed $109 and $99 for our nights.

We were very happy with our stay at Bide a Wee. We stayed in #103 which is a one bedroom king with fireplace and kitchenette. The place was very charming, well kept grounds, very quaint. The bed was extremely comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast when we didnt eat out. Fireplace (gas) gave a nice warmth to the room in the evening. A short walk (10 mins) from the beach.... Complimentary breakfast was very adequate. We didnt take a pet with us, and our room did not smell as if pets had been in it. One thing to mention is that cell service is very limited on the grounds......I found one spot on the lawn where I could get a signal. Receptionist said that its the case with all cell phone vendors. We will definitely stay there again, next time we will request #101 or #102 as these 2 have a little patio. Very comfortable stay.

I LOVE this little place! We planned a stay in Monterey at the end of a weeklong trip that involved busy San Francisco, and I wanted someplace quiet, near the ocean. I had looked at some of the bigger hotels located right on the water, but a quick spot-check with Google Earth confirmed that this was the location for us. I decided on this place due to the positive reviews and the price. Plus, having been to Monterey before, I didn't want to be in all the Tourist Crazy that is Cannery Row.
Our little cabin was in the front of the property. It was very clean and we had a kitchenette with fridge, stove, and microwave. Both the living room and bed room had a flat-screen t.v., if you've come to Monterey to watch television. We could see the ocean from the front window through the trees and I loved having the gas fireplace to take the chill off the cool nights. We slept with the bedroom windows open, and could hear the ocean as we drifted off.
It's a short drive to everything, and if you don't want to cook you can go eat at a selection of interesting restaurants in either Monterey or Pacific Grove. It's only 5-7 minutes wherever you decide.
The only negative thing I could say about the place is that the bed was uncomfortable. It was a king (positive) but it was saggy (negative). They had put a foam mattress on top to try to mitigate the negative, but I just felt like I sunk into a broken down mess and I had trouble adjusting. I hate this for them, as everything else is so wonderful.
However, I'm going to recommend this place highly as it is quiet, it's only a block from the ocean, deer wander past the property, you can park near your room, there's a Continental breakfast, the folks at the desk are polite and helpful, it's charming, you can have a dog, you can smell the sea air (even if there IS rotting kelp, per a previous commenter, but that's normal), and it's a great value for the money. I would not hesitate to stay here again, and you shouldn't either.
