For me, the highlight of this inn was the location - only a couple of blocks from the beach! The grounds are well-kept and very attractive, and the fact that it is pet-friendly helped me decide to stay here on an overnight trip to the area. I was given room 114, with a nice king bed, microwave and frig, and I thought I was "set!" Everything was great until I ran the water for a hot bath....and it only got lukewarm. When I informed the clerk of this problem, I was told to "run it for a long time." I did that, to no avail....it never heated up. Too tired to deal with it any further, I simply put off taking a bath or shower, and decided I would wait until morning. When I tried again in the morning, the same thing happened - no real hot water....just barely warm. I asked for a partial refund at check-out, but was turned down flat. The clerk went to the room, to check the water temperature himself, and agreed it was NOT hot! I would give this place a higher rating, if the water had been hot, or if the clerk had compensated me with a even a small credit to my bill. If you go, and a hot bath or shower is important to you, be sure you test the water temperature before signing your charge slip! Otherwise, it offers a cute, charming atmosphere in the lovely coastal town of Pacific Grove.

First of all service is very important to me and the staff here was GREAT. I also like the fact that they have separate rooms that are pet friendly that way if you are not traveling with pets you are assured the room has not had pets in it so if you have any allergies you don't have to worry about that and I really appreciated that. This place is extremely well kept and clean inside and out. We stayed in a smaller hotel style room that was a good fit for us, however if you want to spread out the larger cottage type rooms are quite large and are only about $20 more a night. The continental breakfast was good, however you do take it back to your room which was fine. They also have several BBQ,s available so if you want to save a little money and cook a meal yourself you can-we did. All in all this was a great place in a great location and we would definitely stay here again an recommend it to others.

This is a cute little place in the Monterey area. A very short drive to 17 Mile Drive and a couple blocks from the ocean. It's a small room with a refrigerator. They give you a continental breakfast. And they have a nice little bench area with grass, where we ate lunch and dinner one night when it was warm enough.

We booked a 2-night stay in a queen-bedded room at the Bide-A-Wee Inn in September via the Inn website.

The Inn was easy to find and in the lovely location of Pacific Grove in Monterey, very close to 17-mile Drive. We were allocated room 112 which had parking outside. The room was very clean and tidy with a small table and chairs and also a microwave, fridge and toaster. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was fairly small but well designed and had a good supply of towels and a hot powerful shower. There was WiFi available which worked well and was of a good speed in the room.

Breakfast is included in the price and was a self service continental buffet style which could be collected from the reception and taken back to our room to be eaten. There was a good range of food including pastries, muffins, different breads with a toaster, coffee, fruit and fruit juice.

Although only staying for a couple of days, we wished we had booked the one bedroom with living room for a bit more space as we carry a lot of luggage! However the room was perfectly adequate and comfortable for our stay. The location is very quiet and the gardens are well tended with a wealth of birds on the feeders and the big plus is that it was only a few minutes stroll to the rocky coast with its lovely board walks.

As we did not want to drive all the way into Monterey for our evening meals, we ate at the nearby ‘Fishwife’ restaurant in Sunset Drive (near Asilomar beach), only a few minutes drive from Bide-A-Wee. This is very popular for good reason - excellent food (especially seafood) and reasonable priced.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at Bide-A-Wee again if we were in the area but probably upgrade to the 2-room suite.
