My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in October on our first trip to the Monterey Bay/Pacific Grove area. We rented room # 23, which is a king bed unit without a kitchen or fireplace. Basically, this is the most basic room they rent and there are only 3 of them like this. All the rest have kitchens and fireplaces. We were very happy with this room. It was spacious, clean, huge closet lined with cedar, jetted tub, microwave, fridge, coffeemaket, hairdryer, wine glasses, etc. It was adjacent to the office, but you couldn't hear anything going on in the office. Unfortunately, there was a small plumbing issue that developed within the first couple of hours we were in the room. The owner and entire staff came in and informed us they would be moving us to another room; lock, stock and barrel. I do mean just that. They actually moved all of our stuff for us. They moved us to room # 20. It was done without hesitation and with apologies for the inconvience. That room was a single room cottage with fireplace and kitchen, and there was no extra charge to us for the inconvience of having to move. This is the only cottage above another cottage in the whole place. It is upstairs above # 16. It has a full deck with table and chair along with a BBQ. The view is great and so was the room.
This is one of the best Inns we have ever stayed in. The staff makes you feel welcome and they make sure you are comfortable and they see to all of your needs. The grounds are clean and well manicured, quiet and private. I would recommend this Inn to anyone wanting to visit the Monterey Bay/Pacific Grove area.

My husband and I found the Andril 6 years ago and have returned every Oct since '04, we love it and wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. We have and we weren't happy, the Andril is very special and we stay there for our anniversary every year. We love the area and can take our little dogs if we like. The owners and staff are always more than helpful, we only had an issue once and that was because they had put a newer TV in the room we always stayed in and didn't know how to operate it....within 3 minutes of asking we had TV, they couldn't have been more prompt. I personally love the Andril so much I constantly wish I could live there, it is close to what we want and we don't have to spend extra money eating out if we don't want to. They have beautiful grounds and lots of animals, we've had squirrels that come and see us and many birds that come...It's a wonderful place! I would and do recommend it to all my friends and family, and I'm hoping to take my daughter and my 2 grandsons up there very soon. Both beds in our room have always been more than comfortable, we only sleep in one but noticed last year they had added one with a special type mattress so we tried it out. They remodel a little almost every year and everything is clean and fresh when we arrive, which I might add is always early...they are very nice and allow us to check in early every year. I can't say enough good things about Andril, I love it and am very prejudice! We have always found everything just perfect, right down to the paper being dellivered and fresh wood everyday...Oh yeah we will go back, hopefully for many years to come...we know for sure next year..

We just returned home from staying here. We loved this place. The kids 5 & 9 had so much fun, The staff was so friendly and helpful. The cottages were very clean and comfortable. Great location, only a short walk to Asilomar Beach. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

We have mixed feelings about our stay. There are many pluses. The Andril offered a great location for us. Quiet and relatively close to the beach and with easy access to the things we wanted to see or do. The Andril was clean and very well run. The management was friendly and impressively responsive with fixing a plumbing issue. They welcome pets and have plenty of hot water. The microwave, refrigerator and television worked fine and the Andril has a a great free DVD library.

But there were several detractions that we feel are important to address. First--our room was adjacent the reception or check in area and as a result there is a sense of a lack of privacy for this particular room. The room was smaller than anticipated or perhaps our expectations were much higher given the pictures on the website of the room we believed we were booking. There is simply too much of this sort of thing in the travel industry. The bed in our room was simply awful. It was like sleeping directly on the box spring and we do normally prefer firm beds. Frankly, by far this was the biggest detraction or minus.

So we enjoyed visiting the area and given a more private room with a better bed we would have throughly enjoyed our stay. So the take away lesson is when we consumers book online--is that we need to be sure that the pictured accommodations are the same as what your booking. Perhaps this is an area that tailored consumer legislation would be effective. Second, we hope that the Andril will invest in a better quality bed for this room. While we don't expect a Weston quality bed at this price point we've slept on better at Best Western's and in cheaper lodgings. We do regret not choosing a room with a fireplace for our stay and one with a kitchen as well. Perhaps if we try the Andril again we will book one of the stand-alone fireplace cottages which comes with more room and a kitchen area. Once again, caveat emptor.
