The location for this hotel is great. Right next to the water. The lady who checked us in was great and very friendly. The nightly desert was awesome and when I went for ice they helped me out even though the office was closed. Unfortunately, our Carriage House Room room smelled musty and looked dated. The bed was creaky and the walls are paper thin. Every step the couple in the room above us took felt like the roof was going to cave. It took me a long time to take a shower with the low flow shower head however the bathtub was awesome. The place is in need of a serious remodel... Wouldn't go back.

Nice B&B in the PERFECT location in Pacific Grove. Very quiet, right on the beach, walking distance to the cannery and aquarium.

The rooms were very nice, but they house is very old and kind of gloomy, creaky, and a little spooky. The bed we had was the WORST bed I've ever slept on. Literally felt like a brick. When I told the staff they agreed that it is a horrible horrible bed...so they should replace it.

We actually got a stomach virus while we were there and asked if we could cut our stay short and not be charged. The front desk was very understanding and allowed us to leave thank goodness!

I would recommend it as far as old B&Bs go

We stayed at the Chapel Guestroom. It was one of the 3 rooms which shared 2 bathrooms. My mistake for not noticing on booking, but what to do. The wallpaper, with the dark beams make the room incredibly gloomy. Finally the door was a panel door, as opposed to a normal room door which mean opening and closing was terribly tricky. Notwithstanding all that, the breakfast was nice, the views great and cookies and cakes for afternoon were great. Will check details of bathroom if booking again.

We have been vacationing on the central coast for many years and have tried many hotels and inns but Green Gables is one of our favorites. They provide a great breakfast each morning and a wine and cheese hour each afternoon. There are six rooms in the main house and several more in a back building. Only three rooms in the main house have their own bathroom, the other three share two bathrooms in the hall. The inn is close to a coast side walking path and only a 15 minute walk to Monterey's Cannery Row and Wharf. The beds are a bit too soft for us, but we have a firm bed at home so we seldom find a bed that is totally to our liking. The rooms in the main building have no TV's, the walls are thin and it can get a bit noisy at night when people visit the bathrooms so bring earplugs if noise bothers you.
