My partner and I stayed here from August 28-30. It is well located for Ventura and Santa Barbara County coastal sightseeing (e.g. an easy drive from Santa Monica/Malibu, Santa Barbara and pretty orange grove towns, e.g. Fillmore and Piru), it was easy to find and parking was plentiful. The room was also spacious and relatively well equipped, and despite being on a main road, was quiet enough for uninterrupted sleep.
However, there were some serious cleanliness issues with the room: the comforters on both beds were stained, as were some of the towels, and we found stray hairs on the lavatory seat and in the bathtub. The bath plug would not seal properly: when we called reception, the security guy who came couldn't fix it, but assured us that it would be fixed while we were away the following day. It wasn't. Furthermore, the shower curtain is poorly designed and makes the bathroom floor prone to flooding after a shower. There is no extract fan in the bathroom, and so the whole suite gets very hot and sticky.
Internet access is wired only, and the ethernet cable is nowhere near the desk, meaning that you have to perch your laptop on a ledge and stand to use it. It is also excruciatingly slow - it took over a minute just to load the login screen for my webmail service, and about the same time for each and every message. The TV was an old CRT set with a yellowish hue to the picture, which indicates that the tube is on its last legs. However, the biggest problem with the room is the ceiling fan - it wobbled and vibrated alarmingly and I'm sure it would have fallen off the ceiling if we'd left it running.
The hotel provides a buffet breakfast of bacon/eggs/cheese, but there is nothing there a vegan can eat (apart from black coffee or tea). The swimming pool looked OK, though we didn't use it.
Room Tip: Check that everything works and is clean immediately after checking in, and ask to be moved if not
