“Holiday Inn rips you off using a 3rd party reservation vendor!”

Watch out for Holiday Inn when you are booking a hotel room as a government patron!
Our office recently called their 1-800 Holiday Inn reservation number to book a room for one nite at the Ontario Airport. We were told that "No government rates were available." The cost of the room on a Tues. was $137 + tax. When we arrived we asked the desk clerk if they honored government rates and he responded that they did and the price was $83; a $50 difference in rates. When we attempted to get this rate we were denied because the 1-800 Holiday Inn number was actually controlled by a "3rd Party Vendor."

When we returned from our business trip I called the Ontario Holiday Inn manager, identified ourselves as Premiere Members and explained the problem. While he agreed with me that the 3rd party vendor misrepresented that the Holiday Inn was not accepting government rates, he said that they would not be able to adjust the higher rate we paid. The customer service was non-existent. Admission but no ownership of the obvious problem of misrepresentation by the 3rd party vendor.

Maintaining good relationships and CSR with your good patrons is "Business 101." Apparently someone cut school that day when it was taught. We have now cancelled 3 recently made reservations with Holiday Inn. Marriott Courtyard has a superior business model and they will get our future business. Beware the 1-800 reservation line when seeking a discounted rate!

Room Tip: Do not use any 1-800 reservation line when booking rooms at the Holiday Inn. The rates are far more...

“WATCH OUT!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Be very careful with this hotel. I think the hotel owner overbooks rooms based upon attracting customers to his nice-looking Holiday Inn property then shuttles them off to his other cheaper hotel he owns. I call it "bait-and-switch". Here is what happened: I arrived around 10 pm at this hotel only to be told that the hotel was sold out (I had a confirmed reservation) but that I would gladly be moved to their "sister" hotel, the Ontario Grand Inn & Suites (see http://hotelontarioca.com/) which I would love. It being late at night I agreed to the move and the desk clerk phoned the Ontario Grand Inn and told them he was sending me over and there were going to be four more guests coming later that evening after me. Well, the hotel was about three miles away in an isolated area in a business park complex. No restaurants, nothing to do, pitch black dark and not safe to walk outside - it was a terrible mistake. Plus the rooms were subpar, the hotel dreary and their complimentary breakfast looked like something purchased at Costco (there were no warm items besides coffee). The entire breakfast room looked like it was filled with a bunch of sad sack castoffs like me. I felt sorry for them. At least I was only by myself on a business trip but felt horrible for the families that got sent to this Siberia of a hotel. Finally, to add insult to injury I was not credited with Priority Club points for my stay. I ended up complaining vigorously with Priority Club and was well-compensated for my trouble but it was not worth it. I do not trust this hotel. My advice is to call and ask them if the hotel owner owns or is affiliated with the Ontario Grand Inn & Suites before reserving a room. Even then a reservation may not guarantee you will get a room at the Holiday Inn Ontario.

“Nice Hotel and Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

This hotel had nice size room with a microwave and mini fridge. The rooom was clean. Wireless internet is complimentary and we had no problem connecting. The bed comfort was acceptable. We liked the fact that a variety of pillows (firm, soft, non-feather, etc.) was on the bed labeled with a ribbon. The bathroom vent had a constant loud hum and cannot be turned off. Otherwise the room was relatively quiet. Although it is close to the ariport, you only hear an occasional airplane. There is a restaurant on premises but we did not eat there. A Marie Callendars is accross the parking lot and offers the normal fare. Usually this hotel offers great rates during the weekend. For a quiet night sleep at a good value, this is the place.

“Nice, clean hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

This hotel is nice for an overnight trip. The location is a little hard to find since it is in the back of many business offices. The check in was quick and our room was clean. The room was in the back section of the hotel and we initially parked near the back door. When we returned from our event, the back parking lot was not lit and was very dark. We parked in the front of the hotel and walked the long way to our room. In the morning, the housekeeper tried to open our door many times even after being told that we were asleep. we later found out that someone had removed the do not disturb sign from our door! This was the only annoying thing that we encountered. There is a fast food restaurant around the corner and a Marie Callendar's in the same parking lot. Seemed like a safe area.
