My boyfriend and I were going to Carlsbad for the weekend but decided to stay in Oceanside at the Harbor Inn based on price and positive reviews. Wow, were we caught offgaurd. The place is very old and outdated. Our "suite" was anything but. Our window did not close all of the way. My boyfriend had to use all of his weight to shut our door. The sound from the freeway was deafening. I could not sleep at all. Had we been staying more than one night we would have checked out immediately but we decided to try to make the best of it since we were not going to spend much time in the room anyway. The saying "you get what you pay for" is so true!

My husband and I had a family emergency and were dreading the fast paced San Diego area. We are from a very small town and were expecting a disaster without proper planning ahead of time. Thankfully this little establishment made us feel right at home. I was impressed with the price when it was so well-kept and also located right on the harbor! Great manager who really took good care of us. Thank you and keep paying attention to the little things: plants, balcony, beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds and wonderful cleaning staff.

Traveled from Belgium to see injured Marine son. Needed a 10 day stay, close to base, ocean and sights. I was offered a great rate, very nice and pleasant service, rooms were fine, clean and comfortable. Right on highway 101 and 30 seconds from highway 5 so getting to base, doctor apptmts were easy. Straight shot back to airport. All the money saved enabled me to spend more time out with son. Recommend to anyone visiting the area, especially their Marine! The harbor is a 5 minute walk with some great eats. Again, staff were very nice and that counts for plenty these days.

On short notice, the Mrs and I decided to take the metro link train ride friday afternoon, from los angeles to oceanside. We are simple people, and easy to please. We just wanted a relaxing, quiet weekend, away from our 7 kids. The trainride was wonderful, great view of the coastline, the surfing conditions are absolutely fantastic. We walked with small backpacks, thru downtown to the harbor inn and suites. The struggling economy has hit oceanside, but the businesses that have survived are thriving!!! Many interesting shops, theaters, restaurants, and nite clubs. This town is wonderful, you will feel very safe walking the streets, late at nite. Very polite, young marines are everywhere. I have never seen so many barber shops in one small town! open til 9pm and on sundays too. I always review trip advisor before committing to a hotel. We were given a good rate over the phone by Vin. He assured me he would hold a room for us without a credit card reservation. As promised, they had a clean room ready for us, #105. We were exhausted, took a hot shower and passed out till 9am. Comfortable bed, fresh sheets, mini fridge, loved the tile work in the newly renovated bathroom. Complimentary continental breakfast, morning news paper, and intelligent conversation with the owner. I would recommend taking a bicycle and surf board to this lovely town. We enjoyed a sidewalk cafe style dinner at the thai restaurant. The greek food at the angelo burger was "To Die For"..., Huge portions for budget eaters. Try the cod fish and chips. Lots of activity at the beach and pier, they had a huge ride a thon for cancer victims this past weekend. If you are noise sensitive, the harbor in is close to the freeway, you may want to take disposable ear plugs. I am a lite sleeper, but was very exhausted, I slept just fine without them. Harbor Inn and Suites is a very reasonable and clean place to stay. Walking distance to everything. We are both nonsmokers, and did not notice any offensive odors in our room. NOTE, MetroLink does not run on saturday or sundays, due to current track repairs. Thank you Vin, we will be back..., with the bicycles!
