OK, I am the first to give a great review if the place is great, but this place is not great! Here is what we experienced:
Late check in because room wasn't ready
Our room was smelly
The carpet wasn't clean, it was vacuumed, but not clean.
When I asked for the closest grocery store, I was told to drive to Ralphs (on Hwy 78 I think) But as we pulled back into the Hotel parking lot, I saw a different grocery store tucked into a shopping center just across the road, he never even mentioned that one!
The breakfast was the best thing about this place but there is very limited seating to eat. We took our 3 kids and our food back to our room to eat only to find it being cleaned. The woman cleaning didn't offer to leave and come back later, she just kept on cleaning, it was weird and uncomfortable. I know we could have asked her to go, but I didn't want to be rude and state the obvious.
They make it seem like the beach is a walk away, really it can be done, but we didn't try because we had 3 kids and it would have been an uphill climb to get home(downhill on the way). Not to mention the fact that you have to cross under the freeway. If you want a hotel close to the beach, this is not it!
We also had so much trouble connecting to the wireless internet. We had to call a 1-800# for help since the front desk couldn't help. We gave up after several hours of trying different things.
AND when we tried to get a discount because of the things had happened that shouldn't have, the manager was unsympathetic and refused to do it in any way shape or form since he saw no problem with our experience.
It wasn't super horrible, we did sleep fine and the beds were alright, but it's not nice there.

Thank you for your review, but I would like to respond to these issues directly. I spoke to this guest shortly after their departure from our hotel. We talked about the maid cleaning their room while they stepped out for our free breakfast. Upon returning they did feel uncomfortable about eating while the maid was cleaning, but I believe this was simple miscommunication. The guest agreed that more could have been stated during the situation on both ends. We frequently have guests that are present during their room being cleaned and I can see both sides on this. The additional issues where not mentioned at all, but I understand how people percieve things differently and I have taken action to solve these issues. Our hotel is about 1.5 miles from the beach. We do not advertise anything different. There is a non-traditional grocery store accross the street, but we frequently have guests that are looking for a store more in line with what they expecting from a grocery store, so we send them to the closest one we feel suits their needs. Additionally, our internet is maintained by a 3rd party per our franchise aggrement and they are paid to handle internet connectivity issues as they have access inside the system and the knowledge far above a desk clerk. Normally, issues with connectivity are simple fixes. We do our best to prevent any issues that may arise while a guest is at our hotel. Also, we listen to our guests and work to improve our quality and service constently. Again, please know that we will always take the time to listen and improve in all areas.
Thank you,
Andrew Stewart GM
