Oakhurst is small town, few options for cheap motels. Took 3 rooms at Oakhurst Lodge for our family of 6. Pleasant staff. Free wifi, a bit slow, also 1 computer in Reception for guest use. Good sized rooms, clean, aircon, fairly comfy beds.Soap size of postage stamp (bring your own). At least as good as Travelodge we stayed in (LA and Palm Springs). Fridge in room, but no safe or microwave. Breakfast very basic as usual - coffee, juice, bagels, cornflakes, little choice, nothing more. (If you really need a decent meal go to local diner). Very small but nice swimming pool, pleasant setting with grassy lawns.
Main thing for us was that we could get to Yosemite. Had to wake at 6 to be out by 7.30 to drive there in our rental car - (about an hour). Even in the height of summer that was early enough to get a parking spot in the Valley from where you can see all the popular sights. Had v good advice from Jennifer Morgan, a park ranger at San Luis Reservoir where we had stopped by chance on way here from Monterey.
Staying more than a day I would spend more and stay within Yosemite itself, we just wanted 1 day as a taster.
Overall we all liked this motel.
