I came here for a part-business, part-fun trip in December during the holiday season. The hotel was fully decorated and looked great. Staff was extremely nice, offered to set me up with sailing opportunity and upgraded my room. Valet parking was a little slow but it was included in my room package so I got a decent deal on everything.

While we found the Balboa Bay Club & Resort because we were coming to a wedding, we will definitely return for a relaxing weekend. The staff could not be friendlier, more warm, or more helpful, starting with the car valets! Maria at the front desk was hugely helpful in selecting a wonderful room overlooking the harbor and yachts for us, and the servers in the Grill were solicitous and charming both at breakfast and dinner. Even the banquet servers were especially nice! Our room was perfectly appointed with all amenities, reminiscent of hotels like the Grand Wailea Resort-- we even had a lovely outdoor terrace and a small refrigerator... And the massage I had with Heather was honestly the best massage I have EVER had... what a beautiful spa! I can't say enough about this surprisingly wonderful place... Bravo to the management!

A family wedding in Newport Beach took us to SoCal in October. We had a spectacular 4 days. We stayed at the Balboa Bay Club and resort. This low-key, high-end resort looks out over the bay, though we had a pool view room which was pleasant. The hotel is low rise, elegant, quiet. Rooms top of the line in cleanliness, amenities, space. We had no complaint. We rented a car and drove several places and the valets were quick and efficient. Staff all low-key graciousness. The dining room for breakfast just a delight with bay views, crisp nappery, good food, excellent service. The quality of this place reminds me a bit of The Little Nell in Aspen (one of my faves). We would stay again. Our two teen-age sons have asked to go there again. Lots to do around Newport. We road the ferry to Balboa - delightful as the weather was SoCal perfection. Had the best latte and breakfast at Altas- charming and yummy. We road bikes along the beach sidewalk another day-reasonable rental. No cheap trip, this. But worth every penny.

We stayed here because we won a silent auction. It's a bit pricey, but it's a first class hotel. We had a room overlooking the bay. Location is perfect as you can walk anywhere... we did have a bad stay but not due to the hotel's fault. Call it drunk guests after a wedding, above our room. So bad that police were called. The hotel did everything they could to control the situation, they were top notch at it, but sometimes stuff just happens. With that said, they gave us a complimentary stay for another night and were very apologetic. Again, NOT THEIR FAULT! We had a lovely buffet breakfast the following moring and all we good! Also, we did have dinner there a couple of years ago. A lovely summer night, on the patio. First class food, first class service! Go check it out, worth every penny!!!
